2/ 5

My parents and I attended the July open day and left with a number of concerns about this university. One of our issues was the fact that during the open day the university had a school on site with some kind of residential. This meant that were areas we were unable to go into (including some of the accomodation options) because the school were using them. It also meant that there were a number of kids running around the campus and getting in the way. Another issue was the price of the accomodation that is on the campus. Why does it cost £180 pw for an en suite bathroom or £150 pw for a shared bathroom? We have looked around a number of other universities (including some near London) and not one of the accomodation fees have been near this price. The next issue was the price of food & drink on the day... What university open day has no free refreshments (not even water was on offer)?! Every over open day we have attended has offered a free drink and some kind of snack... Small acts like this can have a massive impact. The tour guides only seemed interested in helping out on the day as they were being paid (our guide mentioned it a number of times) and didn't actually seemed interested in helping or encouraging people to attend the university. Whilst on the topic of your guides - may I suggest the next time having people (who are helping the accomodation team with their tours) that have actually lived in the university accomodation? Our tour guide didn't know enough about the accomodation to answer some of the questions that the group had asked. The building themselves are nice and all of the necessary facilities are on site but the university gives the impression that it was more interested in things other than the students interests.

Headingley is one of two campus by Leeds Beckett uni. As an research student, I'm satisfied with my experience at this university, standard fees. However there are a few things that they should consider improving which every university need as well. But it's a great place.
