An HONEST review of the Lamp Post Villa : Me and my family stayed at this B&B recently to visit the Bath Christmas Market and we booked here for 2 nights despite reading such negative reviews. We had Rooms 4, 7 and 10 (the family attic suite) Room 4 was clean, the bedding was fresh, the bed comfortable, the bathroom was spotless and the shower worked perfectly. However, 3 bedbugs were found in here. The manager, Livia, informed us that the house had been treated a week previously so maybe this was just the last of the lot, as we checked the mattress and sheets which were all spotless and no more found. The bathroom door in Room 4 also doesn't shut. Room 7 was the same as Room 4 regarding cleanliness and comfort, unfortunately the bath plug was missing from Room 7 so our family member couldn't have a bath just a shower. Room 10, the family suite was great. This was where I stayed and the beds were spotlessly clean, mattresses extremely comfortable, everything was clean including our bathroom, the bath was comfortable and deep and the shower very powerful and good. Overall, the TV connection in every room was a little bit slow but watchable, which weren't a problem. Wi-Fi was reachable in every room and fast. The hotel was warm and clean. The location is fantastic, right infront of a bus stop which makes it easy to catch a bus into the town centre straight away. The manager Livia was extremely kind and caring, tried her best to make us as welcome as possible and helped us with whatever problems we had. She was very professional and obviously enjoys her work, she is an asset to the Lamp Post Villa and deserves alot of recognition. The negatives about our stay obviously includes the bedbugs in room 4, there was no parking space available for us despite ringing multiple times beforehand to remind them of our space reservation. However, we just got a permit and parked in a nearby street. The breakfast we thought was £5 but turned out to be £7.50, not much of a problem however when we went down for breakfast we realised it was a little bit overpriced. The cooked breakfast was basic (1 small sausage, 1 bacon rasher, 1 egg, half a hash brown, some mushrooms, fried tomato, toast and a bowl of beans to share between 5 of us) however was boosted up with some fruit selection, tea/coffee, orange juice, toast and spreads and a selection of cereal. Overall, we was happy with our stay in Lamp Post Villa and would be happy to return, provided the bedbug problem be fixed. Thank you.

Great building with original features. They are doing some upgrades, but when done, I'll give that 5th star. The gentleman and lady who booked us in where helpful, friendly and courteous. Room number 8 is a great size. TV could be bigger, WiFi worked fine. It's about 15 minutes walk to town or the bus stop outside on the number 39 bus takes about 5 minutes and is £1.20 one way. Plenty of parking outside on Sunday, which is free, but any other day before 6pm, good luck finding a space.

I booked a room, but had to cancel it the same day. So on their website it said that I won't be charged (if you cancel within the next 24 hours). After that I noticed that I was still charged for the room. I called them and explained. At first I was told that my charge can not be found on their system. But I was persistent, so he found it at the end. Then I was told that my money will be returned. That was in April and I still haven't received my refund. I have called many times, and every time I was told that I will be refunded, but still nothing!

I visited bath for work and had a night in the lamp post villa. I stayed in the ground floor room at the back of the house, separate from main house. Having read the negative reviews i was a bit apprehensive but i was pleasantly surprised. The host welcomed me, let me park behind the property free of charge. He was very friendly. My room and ensuite were clean, bedding was clean and fresh. The bed was actually v comfy. Ok, there is some dust/cobwebs on walls/ceiling, which i guess is what some would dislike but if i was going to be fussy about those things i wouldnt have picked a 3 star! Considering it is located in the heart of a very expensive city i think its reasonable. I cant comment on the actual main house as my room was separate. The only negative i would mention is the rigid 7pm latest check in. This could be more flexible. Overall a comfortable affordable place to sleep in a beautiful and pricey city.

Lamp Post Villa is not as bad as the reviews we have read. We are quite happy with our stay so far, clean room and lovely white bedding. We had a great night sleep. Shame we couldn't sample the breakfast.

The worst decision ever. Booked this place for 4 nights and the experience was horrific to say the least. The lights in our room weren’t working, the WiFi wasn’t functioning 3/4 nights, the radiator broke down and we were freezing in the cold. The owner is the most difficult man to deal with and was hardly bothered by any of our struggles. There is no one in the entire villa to help with anything; no reception, no care taker, no services that can help during the stay. The day we left, there was a huge load of laundry left at the front door, blocking our way and the owner asked us to pick it up and keep it aside. He offered a fake compensation that never came through and on following up, told us he had done a favour by offering his place to us for a “cheap” price as per him, and then pretended to not know who we were. Please don’t book this place ever; the rest of the reviews are the same so it really does speak volumes about the place. And having had the worst experience, take it from us, you’ll burn your fingers and peace of mind. Might as well pay more and book a better place; at least your money will be worth it.

Dreadful place. Clean but very shabby- broken toilet seat. No staff- just a room with a key in it. Didn't feel safe as there was an issue with fire alarm which had been disabled to stop it going off continuously. They used the excuse of covid to avoid providing breakfast but really there was no justification for this. And to top it all- they overcharged us and havent had the courtesy to reply to out emails.

Our family room for two of us was fine..our friends were in the attic, which was dreadful for the price..having booked B&B, to be told there was no breakfast..no reduction on price..No parking other than carpark at the rear which would only take full day parking..fire alarm went off due to hairdryer under alarm..no-one attending B&b to sort it out..Been before & was lovely..Total nightmare this time..
