Julian has created a beautiful pendant for us using stones from an existing ring, it is stunning and completely bespoke with different sizes of chain...a new family heirloom. Superb service, I am so in love with this new piece of jewellery.

We went in on Saturday to get my new fiance's ring re-sized as it was too big. We got a fantastic service and they even agreed a lower price, fantastic! But, after my fiance wore the ring for a few days, it was still just ever so slightly loose - i think it was incorrectly sized a little, but it could have been out fault - fair enough! I phoned them on Saturday morning and told them the problem and was told 'Oh don't worry, bring it in and we can adjust it a little for you', i asked if there would be a charge, as would have been happy to pay a little but was told 'It will be free of charge if it's just going down by 1/2 a size' which it would be. My fiance took the ring in and all was well, it couldn't be done the same day like before which is fair enough so we waited till Monday. On Monday we got a call to confirm the price, which we were surprised as because we were told it was going to be free. From then on, despite my fiance questioning (not arguing) we were told that taking the ring down 1/2 size - 1/2 size!!!! - would actually cost MORE than we originally paid! When my fiance went to pick up the ring, she was greeted very rudely and treated like some sort of idiot - stating that 'it's not a simple job to resize a ring' - we understood that from the off and would have been happy to pay for it, if we were told an amount when i first phoned up! Other jewelers are cheaper and even closer to our home but we wanted a professional service so paid that bit more! But to then be treated the way my fiance was, i would not recommend at all. You cannot just promise things and just say oops, no sorry, you were told wrong.

I have had a number of pieces made by Julian and his team and have been very pleased with the results. They have also altered and redesigned a couple of rings for me that I wear regularly. I am happy to recommend them to my friends and to anyone else who appreciates excellent workmanship and a friendly personal service .

Julian made my wedding ring; my eternity ring; and a yearly anniversary pendant for the last 5 years. All of which were designed with my husband without my knowledge; and all of which I love and wear with pride. Julian and his team are amazing - they listen to what you want, they offer thoughtful advice, and the quality of their workmanship is second to none.

I had bought something from Julian Stephens a few years back and I remembered him showing me a box with different gems, and how enthusiastic he was about them. So when I recently needed something special for someone special I headed to his shop. I was looking for an opal pendant (birthstone of Libra) but there was nothing in the showcase, then a voice from the back said "I'm sure we could make something up, when do you need it by?", "The end of the week" I replied. So out steps Julian with a box of beautiful opals... One called out to me.. he suggested an open back so you could see both sides. When I went to pick it up the man who did the work told me what an opal was, that in fact in was ancient fossilized ocean. The work was absolutely beautiful and the gift was very well received. I doubt I could find a better jewellers and to be honest I don't think I'll look for one. The personal service, skill and enthusiasm would be hard to beat.

I can't recommend Julian Stephens highly enough. Having seen a ring in the window before, I rang them up and tried to describe it to see if they still had it. Katie identified the ring, WhatsApped me a pic to make sure, and then sent it out to me kindly removing any reference to it being sent from a jewellers in case my partner (now fiancé!) saw it being delivered. Amazingly helpful, and a wonderful service, not to mention a beautiful range of jewellery.

I must have looked at several hundred engagement rings (online, in windows, over the counter...new, antique, custom... ) and I just didn't like any of them, they seemed a bit boring. I saw in Julian's window the first ring that I truly liked-I was SO pleased to finally be getting somewhere-at last! I went in and he was there himself. I told him I loved the ring I'd seen, and had a good chat with him. I was really impressed with his knowledge, experience and creativity. I would have bought the original ring on the spot, and told him so. But we discussed what I had in mind, and he offered to make a new one based on what we had discussed, and quickly followed up with sketches. He personally selected different stones for me to choose from. He suggested 2 additional changes that really brought the ring to life, and I feel reflect a lifetime and passion in jewellery (I later discovered he runs jewellery courses). My Fiancé was thrilled, definitely well, well, well beyond expectations. If you're looking for something special, or unique, I can recommend Julian without any reservation whatsoever.
