I dealt with Simon over a few weeks while buying a watch. He was responsive to communications and a pleasure to deal with. I'm by no means local to the store, but it was a pleasurable transaction and I have no hesitation in recommending this Simon and James Porter.

I bought a watch a couple of years ago, 2019, from James Porter & Sons, a Victorinox make. Not overly expensive in comparison to some of the other watches they sell but expensive enough for me at £550 after being reduced from £700. The quality of service at the time wasn't great, kind of take it or leave it, but the after service since has been nothing short of shocking. The watch broke down after about nine months and went back to the manufacturer's for repair and required to have a new movement installed. The repair probably took about five or six weeks. The Staff were less than sympathetic about either the watch developing the fault or the length of time it took for the repair. Fast forward two years and with the watch still well within the manufacturer's three year warranty I took it back to James Porter & Son with a few to checking if it was only the battery or 'another' issue with the movement. I was informed that they no longer stocked Victorinox, that sending it back to the manufacturer to replace the battery would take an extremely long time due to our exit from the EU and in any case they couldn't provide a price for this 'service'. The four 'ladies' behind the counter couldn't really have been of less service, though they did recommend using the watch repair stand in the St. Enoch Centre. All in all, needless to say that I won't be back and certainly wouldn't recommend the shop to family or friends. Who knows, maybe if I had purchased a more expensive item I might have recieved a better, or any level, of service! I don't think they appreciate the level of competition in the Arcade!?!
