I think more people having a positive experience need to write down reviews and not only the ones having a negative one. I just went into the branch this morning and a gentleman at reception helped me almost straightaway. I explained to him the issue I had with one of my accounts and he gave me an answer in the next 2 minutes. Although my case might not be a complicated one still indicates the speed and willingness of staff to assist you. Apologies I didn't keep the gentleman's name but thank you!

Went to open an account, the person at the reception was condescending and rude. After I decided to just walk away, she wouldn’t even let me stay at the counter while I was putting all the paperwork back into my backpack.

After some initial difficulties I could finally open a bank account. Despite the fact that I had to visit the branch for 3 times all the staff members were very friendly (shoutout to Rachel my advisor). The online banking is very smooth and haven't had a problem yet, so I'd recommend the HSBC (for the records, I'm a postgrad student from the EU).

Absolute joke. Do not try opening an account here. I tried opening an account online and and because the website told me I have to go to a branch, I went here. First time I went here I was told to use the website even though I explained that I had already done that. The second time I was told that I was doing it wrong so I showed the person on my phone what I did and they just said I should try it again and that there is an error in the website The third time I was told to outright lie on my application and that this is the only way to open an account. I don't know which bank tells it's customer to provide false information but it certainly made me believe that I should just open an account elsewhere. This is not what I expect from any bank and especially not one as big as HSBC. I do not recommend going here. Service is horrible and they really just want you to leave and don't care about their customers.
