Went to book an appointment to open a bank account, the guy started to ask me a lot of questions of what I wanted to do with the account and why, tried to convince me to close my main account with another bank and switch to them. At my refusal, he then said that they will need to check me for anti laundering purposes. Treated like a criminal, ans still got no appointment. Went then to the bank in front of it (their competitor) and I've been able to do everything quickly, with really friendly people. Will never come back again here.

I am quite happy with bank and yes there was some issues in opening an account and it was a mistake from there side. have to do extra work for to open the account after they have realized that they have not given the right information but there made it easy at the end. Anyway, i am happy that my account is open and hope to have a good customer relation with the HSBC.

Understaffed and never seem to have business advisers who can help on business accounts - taking both my business and personal accounts elsewhere. Would not recommend for small business or personal accounts. Now moved to Metro Bank - they seem keen to have my business and you can walk in any time without an appointment and connect with your account manager - time will tell how good they are but certainly their web based account management is streets ahead of HSBC.

I went in on Saturday morning to open an account. The staff were extremely helpful, particularly Chris, Julietta, and Andrea who answered my many questions, and succeeded in being both friendly and professional. The service I received reassured me that I had chosen the right bank.

Really hard to communicate - no local number; if you call, you wait for hours on line and then get passed on to another long wait. No replies to emails etc. Don't waste your time and money with them. Can't believe that First Direct who are brilliant - are part of the same company.

Poor service on telephone banking and refused to put me through to manager and refused to let me raise a complaint. Supposedly I have to go to a branch to do that. Stay clear.

Was an oriental student who couldn’t speak much English to express themselves, in the 2015/2016 year I was once at the TK max checkout finding out my hsbc debit card was stolen so I couldn’t pay for the stuff, the cashier told me she’d hold the bags for me, so I went to the branch and in person with drew the money I needed to pay for the tk max items, later realised I’d need a bit more for the weekend (it was either a Friday or Saturday morning) and the time it takes for the new debit card to arrive, I returned and told them that, they made me sit for an hour and a lady was pointing fingers at me as she secretly told the manager about me, and then told me they wouldnt let me do it for the second time because they thought I wasn’t seriously in dire need of it and I was just getting money just so i “can go to a restaurant and eat nice”, they didn’t even bother to pay attention to my explanation as I struggled to speak English
