Sells shoddy goods & are rude if you have the temerity to complain!

“Traditional, friendly and always happy to help” – according to their website. Well they might be traditional, if poor quality goods and dreadful service count as traditional! Friendly and always happy to help they most certainly are not. I bought an item here recently which broke after a few weeks and a couple of uses. When I went back to the shop the proprietor, rather than apologising, basically laughed in my face and said it wasn’t his responsibility. I told him I would expect the item to be fit for purpose, which it clearly wasn’t, and that I should at the very least be able to exchange it. He then told me that he didn’t have any in stock but would be willing to give me a refund – if I came back with a receipt. He clearly has little knowledge of Consumer Rights, good customer service or basic good manners. A shame because the other two people who work there are invariably both friendly & helpful, in my experience. I do generally try and shop at local independent shops, rather than the big chains, but I certainly won’t be using this store again, unfortunately.

I went into this store with a need for an emergency key to be cut: I had been locked out of my house and a neighbour kindly lent me a spare to get re cut as I had lost mine. I checked on the net for thier opening hours and it said 5.30pm. I rushed down to the shop, and as I entered the blond woman said "we're closed, we're packing up the shop". I explained that it was an emergency and I really needed the key; she refused again to cut a new key. I insisted, saying again it was an emergency and I was in the shop within thier advertised opening hours. She finally snatched the key out of my hand and said 'ok I'll do it and I'll miss my bus'. Why do these people advertise that thier shop is open when they don't want to open? All they need to do is say the shop is open til 5.15, and close thier doors to pack up til 530. I don't expect for the staff of a shop to have go at me for coming in to spend money to pay thier wages. Appalling, arrogant service. I wouldn't mind paying their high prices if they made up with it with a modicum of decent service. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

Lovely, friendly staff. Have been picking up odd bits and pieces, mostly key cutting, with them for a number of years now. Key cutting service is good quality and they're happy to adjust if the fit isn't spot on first time. An excellent local business.

Great shop - have used them for everything from key cutting, to gardening, to pet supplies. I am surprised to see negative reviews about the staff as they have been so helpful and lovely to me for the years that I have used them!
