Terrific care from all the staff. Consultants, doctors, nurses and ancillary staff were so thorough, caring, friendly and professional. I felt very confident to be in their care. I was given the choice of either The Horton or The JR. Why would I want to sit in the traffic for one and a half hours to get to The JR and at least an hours wait for a parking space. I wasn’t well enough for the Park and Ride. I don’t understand why this government is so intent on destroying our NHS and wonderful hospitals like the The Horton. We need our care within easy reach, not huge hospital hubs where it is also so difficult for visitors who help our healing process too. We are going backwards. A huge thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at The Horton.
We rececently spent 5 days here with our poorly 4 month old boy, being looked after the amazing team in the children’s ward. We genuinely wouldn’t have coped if it hadn’t been for nurses like Mae & Alex. Thanks again & keep up the good work.
Excellent service today in outpatients department at the Horton today as unable to get appointment at the Churchill. Everyone very helpful and friendly. Worth the extra distance.
I can only review the situation and procedure I experienced, from admittance to the Day Case ward, not other aspects of the hospital: I was originally seen by a consultant at Oxford Churchill, and a procedure (Day Ward) The Day Case ward was busy this day, with various procedures taking place, people from various walks of life coming and going. I was made to feel welcome and comfortable while I was waiting. Wait, I did .. however the staff remained very helpful and friendly. I wandered about to kill time. My Anaesthetic and Operating Surgeons, both very pleasant ladies .. both called to see me. I walked in to the OR, and was surprised that there were almost as many in the OR as people in the Royal Albert Hall! They seemed amused I said this. We chatted, I joked that I didn't wish to leave with any appendages missing, and my surgeon said there was a recipient waiting next door :) There were a total around 8 people, including two students observing (good luck for the future to them!) We chatted through the procedure, the team were very reassuring, and at least had a sense of humour, which helps many patients relax. On completion, we said our goodbyes. I was offered something to eat and drink on return to my ward, and collected my things. I cant fault the service at all, along with the dedicated staff. Ok, as this is the NHS, there may be delays, etc, but the service makes up for it. They will say they are just doing their job, but its more about how they do it! Thanks Horton staff.
Would of left no stars if possible. Arrival at hospital and no one on reception to check our COVID Flo test as requested before arrival. Dirty hospital (floor wise). When ask staff for advice, blunt rude response. ( This was the maternity ward) Please be aware no staff is checking you for COVID symptoms or proof of lateral Flow * upon arrival.
Came into A&E to get heart checked after collapsing, 4 days after being forced to get covid jab ( which I did not need due to recovering naturally from it!! ) still need tests to fully get an answer but these Dr's took a great stress off me.. still on-going
OK in terms of the hospital services on offer however the catering requires improvement. We were sold out of date food in the cafe which itself had a very limited selection. Recently used the out of hours GP service and although there was a long wait the GP was very friendly and helpful.
I had a scan today and was very impressed with the care and attention of the staff. I did ask the appointments lady if the appointment letter could be sent digitally or emailed but said this was not possible. Unfortunately the letter took 4 days to come first class and arrived after my appointment. It would have been useful to have had the letter before the appointment.
Ambulance crew were okay well the lady was I was in so much pain and found it hard to talk ! the man wouldn't stop asking me questions even when the lady had asked me the same question before hand what was a little werid plus notes of me should be on record! couldn't Stand and got dragged to the ambulance ! I was in the A&E for 4 hours could stand and still wanted to black out but got bundled in to a taxi and sent home took.2 days before I could walk again all a really bad experience lack of care an even the nurse didn't want to send me home .worst bit was I could hear the ambulance man slagging me off I could hear everything down the corridor really unprofessional .so all and all 0 stars would be best
