I can only review the situation and procedure I experienced, from admittance to the Day Case ward, not other aspects of the hospital: I was originally seen by a consultant at Oxford Churchill, and a procedure (Day Ward) The Day Case ward was busy this day, with various procedures taking place, people from various walks of life coming and going. I was made to feel welcome and comfortable while I was waiting. Wait, I did .. however the staff remained very helpful and friendly. I wandered about to kill time. My Anaesthetic and Operating Surgeons, both very pleasant ladies .. both called to see me. I walked in to the OR, and was surprised that there were almost as many in the OR as people in the Royal Albert Hall! They seemed amused I said this. We chatted, I joked that I didn't wish to leave with any appendages missing, and my surgeon said there was a recipient waiting next door :) There were a total around 8 people, including two students observing (good luck for the future to them!) We chatted through the procedure, the team were very reassuring, and at least had a sense of humour, which helps many patients relax. On completion, we said our goodbyes. I was offered something to eat and drink on return to my ward, and collected my things. I cant fault the service at all, along with the dedicated staff. Ok, as this is the NHS, there may be delays, etc, but the service makes up for it. They will say they are just doing their job, but its more about how they do it! Thanks Horton staff.
