I booked this place because of the reviews on cleanliness and location. I am glad I stayed here. Great location close to shops and also the place offered free breakfast. The staff there are diligent with their work and happy. The rooms were clean and quiet. The website photos need to be updated to reflect the great ambience of this place. The photos remind me of places in the 1970s. Therefore I am leaving this review so others can also perhaps give it a try.

Stayed overnight and was 100% pleased with my stay. The rooms were clean and new, service was lovely, and the breakfast was great. Breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, variety of toast, fruit, cereals, juice and tea / coffee. It’s so close to the station you couldn’t get lost. Would highly recommend. It’s on the top of my list if I stay in Newcastle again.

The room was very recently renovated (it had a new room smell). Location is really good (we used this as a way to break up a drive from Sydney to Coffs Harbour over the Easter long weekend in 2022. We checked in at 1am and no hassles, there is outdoor public parking, but we (gladly) paid $20 to park in the secure parking in the hotel (direct lift access to hotel). Products are good and room is very clean. Breakfast was much better than expected (it was actually pretty good). Hash browns were the highlight. Breakfast is usually 7 - 9:30, but closes at 10:00 on weekends and public holidays. At exactly 10:03, they started packing up breakfast. Nice place, thanks for looking after us Harris and the Holiday inn express. Were coming back next time we're heading north.

After my stay at Express by Holiday Inn, Newcastle I realised a very sentimental piece of jewellery was missing. We contacted the hotel and spoke to Linda. She had someone from reception go with someone from house keeping to check the room. She then called us to let us know the jewellery was not found. After some time we called back and asked if we could go and look in the room. She was accommodating and in fact accompanied us, stopping on the way to have the housekeeper cut open the vacuum cleaner bag and search the contents. She had people on the back dock checking all of the linen cages. Linda and the staff at Express by Holiday Inn went above and beyond to help us constantly reassuring us that they would be the same if they were in the same position. The jewellery was later found in our possession and I felt somewhat foolish but are truly grateful and want to shout from the roof tops about the outstanding service and compassion we received from Linda and the team.

Lovely spot to stay hotel room was nice. There was hair from someone else in a few spot which was a bit gross. The shower door was dual purpose used for the shower and bathroom door which was interesting. The mirror in the bathroom was excellent to do make up.
