When you've done all the main sights of Bath, this makes a pleasant change. Interesting piece of history, nice little garden-and a chance to see inside one of those many Georgian terraces. A short film showing on a loop in the basement gives you all you need to understand the exhibits.

Interesting collection but poor presentation. Mirror and lens making could be explained more: principles techniques and instruments. Discovery of infrared marginally better presented, but could get better. Film w poor narration.

This is a small museum over 3 floors of a large terrace house. The draw is Hersch discovered Uranus while living in the house. Good video in the basement explaining his life and discoveries. A childrens area for making rockets. A range of displays covering astronomy, his music and life. Not bad; but not great either.

Great little museum with a lot of information on Herschel, his sister and their huge contributions to astronomy. Reasonable price, lots of authentic furniture, scientific tools and various objects. Definitely an underrated museum about an underrated pair of scientists.

Excellent, small but well designed museum dedicated to William Herschel and his just as brilliant sister. Not only was Herr Herschel a top astronomer in his day, he was also a pretty good musician/composer, too.

Not easy to find in a street of almost identical Georgian houses, but we'll worth it. The home of an amazing brother and sister who were great astronomical enthusiasts. It had an excellent children's trail to follow with a booklet to fill in and kept us looking and interested (children aged 6 and 8). Highly recommended.

5/ 5

William Herschel was a great astronomer and his sister Caroline was also an astronomer and comet hunter in her own right besides helping her brother in his astronomical work. Their home in Bath is now converted into a lovely little museum with many original artefacts on display there. Well worth seeing if you are interested in observational astronomy.

Booked online, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Entrance is not very obvious, but we were welcomed in and given an interesting introduction. The museum is across 3 floors and is more about the people than about the science. But there is enough of a balance between science, history and the people involved to peak the interests in all areas. Very recommend, as an interesting diversion while in Bath.
