I only wish that I had read the one star reviews before booking this company. I have had a dreadful experience with the CEO. He has zero customer service qualities and no matter what I said he always had an excuse why it had happened. And funnily enough it's all my fault. On reading some of the other reviews of other poor souls, it seem I am not alone. It is always the fault of the customer or the type of soil or or or a hundred different other reasons. I wanted my fence replacing, simple job you would think. My previous fence was the same height all the way around my garden and matched up to that of my neighbour. I expected the same. I asked for a fence to be fitted and then for a lattice work to be fitted on the top for decorative purposes. Apparently I agreed to a 5' foot fence and a foot high lattice. I have to admit to not being able to picture 5 feet but assumed, wrongly that the overall height would match up with my neighbour. Wrong! not only does my new fence not match up with that of my neighbour, but it doesn't even match ITSELF all the way around! The finish of the work is astoundingly poor and my garden was left in a very poor condition. Broken garden light, long screws left on the ground, a hedge half pulled down, a jug that had been loaned just left tossed on the ground, filthy dirty and with paint on it, the stem of the garden light left filthy dirty. I have a 7 inch difference between the side part of my fence and the back, and this, according to Tom Head is perfectly acceptable.
I messaged him as soon as the workmen had left, I had actually asked them if there was anything to go on top of the fence as it doesn't look finished. He messaged me to say that he had looked at the work from the outside and said that he was "happy" and wanted to check that I was too. I don't know why he bothered to ask that because as soon as I mentioned that I had concerns and could we talk the backlash started. He said that yes, we could talk but that he'd given exactly what was agreed and that it was my fault that I had not asked as he would have told me that the fence comes in ten sizes the parts are made and the are extremely unlikely to line up with any other fences!!!!! I have never heard such twaddle in my life. The other fences in the road are all the same height and have been erected at totally different times, so why is mine not able to be the same. I asked if anything could be done as I sensed that this man does not like it unless you shower him with praise so I trod carefully. He said that the only thing he could do was to take off the trellis work and replace it with 2 foot trellis at an additional cost of £132.00.
I then asked if he would at least agree with me that my side back fence should be the same height as the side. His answer? There will be almost always be variances due to the lay of the land and the fact that they are separate fences!!!! The previous fences had also been subject to the "lay of the land" were also separate fences, but amazingly enough managed to be the same height!!! There were a few more exchanges in which I saw a completely different side to Tom Head. One stated that as far as he was concerned the work was exactly to the standard he expects!!! Well! as far as I was concerned if that was the way he felt there was nothing more to say. Due to tragic family circumstances I simply could not face any more debate on this so I told him to just leave the idea of adding a 2 foot lattice as he said that my issue with heights was not his fault. Forgive me, but when one employs a firm who purport to be experts in their field do we not expect that they have the experience to see potential problems and rectify them before completing the work. The two men who were left to work on the fences could have seen that there were going to be issues and could have called Tom Head back to have a discussion with me about all these soil issues. I admit, I was not watching their every move while they worked. It was my belief that I had employed experts in this field and they would see potential problems.
