Update: this customer care response below is misleading. I *had* contacted them. they are giving me the runaround and expecting me to return to a salon to "assess" my har - why I would return to them is beyond me. appalling and discriminatory service and customer care. * NOT FOR POC, TOLD TO "STRAIGHTEN" HAIR BEFORE RETURNING : I rarely write reviews but this experience compels me to do so. This review is not a reflection of the stylist's personality, as she was nice, but unfortunately this doesn't take away from the services rendered. For her sake I will leave her name out but the long and short of it is 1) I asked for a hair cut given specific gripes - split ends and wanting a cut that would work with my waves. I left with neither - despite an explicit discussion about my problem. Not once was I told that I needed to cut my hair "short" to address what I needed as the customer care person I emailed has just responded with (" unfortunately split ends travel far up the hair and the only way of getting rid of them is to cut the hair very short"). If the agreed upon length had been cut, I am 100% positive the split ends would have gone - but given the incredible speed of the cut (which i remarked on to the stylist as well) and lack of attention to detail, I left with a lacklustre hair cut that also showed zero layers or shape once I washed it - it looks like it's been cut symmetrically which anyone who has waves know doesn't work. This further reflects an inability to deal with non-straight / POC hair which was reinforced by the appalling follow up service... 2) I called to come back in to get the actual length agreed upon cut off. The stylist who answered the phone was someone else, he said this would be fine. However, the day before I was due there, he called and said they were busy and I had to wash and STRAIGHTEN my hair before coming in so they could give me my cut. I was shocked. 3) I emailed customer care who, instead of calling, has sent a series of emails - first saying the owner would call (he didn't), then asking me to go to a salon in Chiswick for a new cut (I wouldn't - it's no where near where I live plus by this point I wasn't going to them again) and then asking me to go to another salon so they could "inspect" my hair and determine if they could give me a refund. What an epic waste of time. When I responded saying this, she's now told me this nonsense scoffed at even by other hair dressers that split ends "travel up" the hair and can only be dealt with if cut short and that I agreed on the length to be cut off with the stylist... when I had made clear that the latter was precisely the problem. Not once did she apologise or query as to why I had been asked to straighten my hair... would someone else have been asked to do that? i don't know. in that email they said they would arrange some voucher for a token of good will - eventhough the email implied nothing was their fault. but shocking service and I won't be returning so why would I use this voucher... and advise any POC to do the same: avoid.
