I discovered that my SIPP previously operated by Greyfriars was transferred to Hartley Pensions in October 2018 after Greyfriars entered administration, and this has proved to be disastrous. I received no pension until February this year and communication is practically non existent ,I presume they have a high turnover of staff as I can rarely speak to the same person twice. They are both disorganised and unprofessional but this has not stopped them deducting unwarranted and grossly excessive fees for "administration".I rue the day I found myself in the hands of Hartleys.

Yet another same tale as Mr Good-fellow. We were with Greyfriars which compared to the service from Hartleys, was no way as appalling. The same story, took well over 10 months to transfer the Sipp over to my chosen administrator, Westerby. They have sent email to get this sorted for over 6 months!! It's only now you find the delay was intentional as they can take charges from your account when it falls due. Fees were deducted for the transfer of the SIPP. Annual fees were deducted with out invoices and prior notice!!! These people are scum,,,stay well clear, unless you want to lose money. My next steps are complaint to Companies House, FCA then the Ombudsman.. Like to know if anyone has has success filing for this company?

1/ 5

So I ended up with Hartley SAS after my Greyfriars SIPP was transferred when Greyfriars went into Administration in October 2018. Now the problems start. They wouldn't take phone calls and the switchboard staff are incredibly rude - I was quite gobsmacked by that. Wouldn't put me through to a pensions administrator, then wouldn't put me through to a manager. They then tried to charge me £100 for an internal transfer that should be free. I had to complain to get this refunded. I decided to transfer my SIPP to Morgan Lloyd given the unprofessional behavious ad poor performance and started the process 10 weeks before the SIPP anniversary where a new annual charge of £1500 would be levied. So what did they do - raise the new annual charge 5 weeks early so they could take the money before the transfer - this is outrageous. Furthermore they have yet to reply to any of the three communications I have sent going back to April, to ensure that the transfer was made in time. They put the transfer on go slow so they can help themselves to more money in the meantime. These guys are rogues and are only out to bleed as much money from the Greyfriars SIPP book as possible. Steer clear - this one will be going to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they don't refund the prematurely charged fees. Also beware of the excuse that since they took on the Greyfriars SIPP book they have a backlog. They knew what they were taking on and had every opportunity to staff up - the delays are their own internal problem. Denis McHugh, CEO, I have written to you.

Hartley took over my Berkeley Burke SIPP when BB went into administration following court proceeding

1/ 5

Hartley took over my Berkeley Burke SIPP when BB went into administration following court proceedings, I had no realistic choice but to accept this as my investments were deemed toxic and no one else would accept them. The FSCS took on BB claims and agreed that they had failed in Duty of Care. I received full compensation for my investments and fees paid to that date. Hartley were aware of these FSCS investigations into all BB claimants. I had £2000 remaining in my SIPP that was uninvested, when i then transfered this to another provider Hartley saw fit to charge a £350 closure fee and £680 annual admin fee. So despite the FSCS ruling that the original Pension transfer into BB was an unregulated transfer, Hartley dipped the fingers in my wallet as I was leaving the room. Back I go to the FSCS

5/ 5

I have found Hartley to have an absolutely excellent administration process. There are a lot of complaints about them "scamming" people but this just shows a complete lack of understanding of the industry. They don't advise clients on what investments to hold within their products and are not responsible for their performance. The SIPP, SSAS and ISA wrappers they hold are fit for purpose and their company operates at a higher level than most competitors.

I wouldn't have given them any stars if I didn't have to. They don't answer emails, letters and if you ring them you are given incorrect information or fobbed off. Do not have any dealings with this company if you do expect trouble

Hartley took over my Greyfriars Fund which has distressed illiquid assets worth basically zero in it

1/ 5

Hartley took over my Greyfriars Fund which has distressed illiquid assets worth basically zero in it but some cash in it. They refuse to to transfer the cash as they maintain a balance of 2000 pounds must be held at all times. They refuse to close the pension because they maintain it has assets. This means they can drain away what remains of my pension in fees. They have ignored my complaints until I went to the pension ombudsman. I can see by the reviews they have done this to a lot of people. I would not trust them in any fiduciary capability.

The same as other mentioned has happened to me. The fund was transferred in 2018 when Greyfriars went under. I have never had any contact with these people and they have not been in touch. They have simply over the last 2 years taken fees until the balance is 0. I have tried to get in touch but they will not respond. FSCS have been informed.
