The docs are great the receptionists also but the pharmacy is dire. They never have what you require. I appreciate that there are millions of different medications however the basics should be available. Instead I have had to get to another pharmacy to obtain my medication 2 days after submitting my script, plenty of time to order it in. Husbands medication is required to be refrigerated, the times it has been dispensed from the drawer and he tells them it then has to be disposed of and a new refrigerated one dispensed. Not very cost effective for them I wouldn’t think.

My wife rang the surgery this afternoon for a blood test condition review having been requested by text to do so. The male receptionist was surly and totally unhelpful offered me an appointment in 3 weeks, 17 December the Friday before I was due to go to the hospital, which will be totally useless as it would be too near the hospital appointment. And then rudely put the phone down while my wife was still speaking. About 3 months ago I had a large painful abscess on my back where a cyst had got infected, the same receptionist was very obstructive and would only help me with an appointment 3 weeks ahead, so my wife lanced and aspirated it for me despite the pain it was causing. We have now both decided after so any years with Harston to move doctors as we are absolutely disgusted and disillusioned. You appear to have employed a receptionist whose brief is to obstruct patients being able to seek any medical assistance. .

This practice has a young man on reception who is arrogant and rude and hangs up on clients. After being ninth in the telephone queue and waiting 22 minutes to speak to anyone, this young man offered me a telephone consultation with a doctor at comberton at 7pm. I tried to explain that I needed to see a doctor in person , but he didn’t let me get far enough to explain that I needed a doctors signature which you can’t get over the phone. He asked if I “wanted the telephone appointment or not” . When I tried to explain he said “last chance” then hung up on me. Unbelievable!

The surgery had been providing very helpful and thoughtful medical care before. However the experience with the male receptionist was really untoleratable. Not being understanding and not kind either. Treating the patients problems as something unrelevant to the nature of his job. Really disappointed as a mother who is simply seeking a simple medical remedy for her son.

Cannot fault the clinical care, but the dispensary is stuck in the dark ages. Not even Covid-19 could tip them into getting a card machine to take cashless payments. Okay, not strictly true: if you can still find your "cheque book" you can pay by this ridiculously antiquated method. I'm afraid I do not buy the argument about the cost of the machine. Plenty of sole traders and independent businesses use them. An iZettle card reader costs £30 and charges 1.75% per transaction - under 20p on a prescription - which you simply pass on to the customer. Please, for the love of God, start taking card payments!
