I went to check out this university (not a university it felt like and literally looks like a sixth form college) as I had put it down as one my listed universities on UCAS. My opinion = Small University which results in congestion and overcrowding. Very little to offer. The facilities generally, are overall poor. (i.e. the Library, Computer Labs and the lecture theaters) Its look quite old and derelict apart from the Stuart hall building. It needs a complete refurbishment, renovation and modernisation. Upgrades and investment is badly needed, or the university will continue to receive negative ratings with 2 stars or below. Big let down to be honest. Highly advise people not to go to this University.

Goldsmiths College is place where the Middle-classes come together to have a knees up in "London" and think it is alright to laugh at the expense of others (please read on).. It has to be the most terrifying experience in my whole academic life. I had never felt so inferior to my fellow students! There are too many posh student's who come to Goldsmiths to simply try to spread their wings and enjoy their independance away from mummy and daddy's posh resort. They spoilt it for people like me who didn't have a previlaged background. They understand zilch of London lifestyle but come here to continue the prestige that the name "Goldsmiths" holds yet want to be adventurous and a deviant at the same time. The only way to "fit in" was to act like they do and be pretentious about yourself in order to make an impression where one student came to campus with the idea of University being Hollyoaks. It just made my whole univeristy experience/life even more unpleasant than it already was by year 2! I couldn't fit in. If isolating and alienating is anything to go by it is just an understatement and lecturers, tutors make it worse if your an average joe like me! Everyone is scared of eachother's social class and Goldsmiths is a social disgrace to humanity. Made the worst mistake to take up a BA Hons here at Goldsmiths back in 2001 when I should've gone up north or at least out of London to gain a Degree as I may have enjoyed my experience and study more! There is no social network or outreach to help if you are having difficulty settling in and everything was a new experience which created a whole of anxiety in my 1st & 2nd year at Goldsmiths. The only ones who seem to be down to earth are the NUS but even then they are hard to reach. I think the nearest that there had become a revolt against this undercover class racism at Goldsmiths, was when the NUS officer Mustafa tried to speak up for the voiceless people at Goldsmiths who are repeatedly undemined by their fellow rich and previliged peers. Mustafa who later became vilified in the press, because of the threat she posed to this horrible institution i.e. in the divide of two cultures that exists here at Goldsmiths. Her case was a genuine one for the rest of us & she was contrived by the system who have power to shut down anyone who have the platform to speak up. sadly she was removed from her position. How egregious and nefarious this was - to reject the class and social divide that exists at Goldsmiths. I made no friends except one person who I could relate to. The tutors, lecturers make life worse for you. They act very informative and extravagant in lectures but when they are sought for help and advice, they are no where to be found or seen! It's made me see things much clearer now. Education is a business and Goldsmiths want your money and they dont care about your degree. Pure and simple. The rich will remain rich and the poor will only keep on believing by these fools making it all up for you! Good luck at Goldsmiths but if you want my advice then avoid going here. New Cross is not the place for you trust me on that if you are reading this with any interest ;0) Ps. Just because I now have a degree from 'Goldsmiths' does NOT imply i am at the job where I want to be. Instead of spiralling into debt, I surely could've done something much more constructive in my life than to waste 3 years spent here. After graduation, none of your friends will stay in touch.. most likely be in dead end jobs trying to make ends meet and pay off that loan spending on drinks in those drunken student nights out. It's only if you have prestige in your background then you will get into a job successfully but dont believe in false promises if you are the normal average joe like me. We've all heard from the grapevine about the entrepreneur who made their millions without any academic qualifications. Now that is starting to ring very true than the dilussion pf education gets you set up for life with a decent job.. I'm sure you get the picture .. I just wish it was me who didn't believe all the hype :)

This is a review of Thirty Five, their coffee shop. I was at the UCAS event in June 2018. First visit, the woman at the till decided because the man making the iced drinks was backed up, not to serve any other customers. They just stood there. After a few minutes I left empty handed. Second visit, at the till, the same older woman asked me if I wanted a receipt, which I replied "yes please" to which she decided meant leave the till mid transaction and do something else. Her male colleague who eventually finished the transaction asked me if I would like the bottle cap removed from the drink I bought. I said yes handing it to him to open and was taken aback when he asked me to "hold it still" - yes, me in my insanity thought he would take the bottle, open it and hand it back, but who am I? Possibly the worst customer service I've experienced in years. These people obviously think their customers are an inconvenience.

Disclaimer: not a student at goldsmiths and have never been. The 5 stars go the degree shows which I love to visit each year - thank you to the students who share their work and the others who support them.

as a design student this is just another trash arts school. The teachers are going on strike because the management is poor but I didn't even notice what work they were performing to begin with. Don't go here if you want to grow.
