A word of advice for the proprietors. Don’t insist that customers leave their seating on the first floor to stand and finish their coffees and cakes downstairs. As a rule, close the upstairs by not allowing any further customers to take seats but allow those already there to just finish up. After all, it was only 5 o’clock in the afternoon and the downstairs was packed. You’ve definitely lost our custom. Lucky that new place, Waft, has just opened across the road!

I am giving one star for the service I received from Tatiana (waitress at the till). After paying for a couple of loafs of bread - There was no thank you, no smile, no eye contact, no friendly attitude. I waited for her to ask me if I had a loyalty card, nothing. Then I asked her if I could have one ? She had them at the side of the till and then threw it on to the counter. I felt I was just another number. A very bad customer service. Hopefully the manager can address some training. I'll buy my bread elsewhere... not in Gail's Chiswick.

I can only agree with an earlier review of the Chiswick Gail's. . The service from the young woman at the till was dismissive and terse. She didn't make eye contact, no smile nor thank you. Only comment was "upstairs is closing in 25 minutes". Her point was what exactly.?? presumably meaning please don't hang around! Such a shame, because I love the bakery and your food but your serving person is definitely letting you down. .

Actually this is not a bakery but a shop. And lately you can tell it but the freshness of products. They do have interesting products and some of better quality though. It’s a shame that staying in is not such a great idea when you have staff thoroughly hoovering entire shop right in the middle of the day.

It's good but not as good as Ole & Steen, so when they open next door they will definitely feel it.

It's good but not as good as Ole & Steen, so when they open next door they will definitely feel it. I worry about anyone with allergy or intolerance as there is nowhere to find the ingredients. Even online this is not available. For me this is a big minus.

My favourite bakery in London. Excellent quality. Coffee is just the way it's supposed to be. A bit expensive but worth every penny. Highly recommended. 5* all the way!
