All staff are lovely and what seem to be very helpful, all treatment done is professional. Been here since I was a little girl but as soon as I turned 16 and started working and had to pay full price for treatment this is where it has gone down.
I do not mind paying full for my treatment but since the age of 16 Firswood Dental have been taking advantage of me not knowing much. They've let me book appointments and pay upfront, once I've then had the treatment needed they will call me to say "you have walked away without paying for treatment" to which I have to then persist that I have paid upfront, they do a bit of digging and tell me I'm right and that I've already paid, this has happened on more than one occasion.
They've made me pay unfront and then keep cancelling the appointments so it takes longer and longer for me to be seen and my problem then gets worse and worse. But because they obviously already have my money, it's not a problem from them they can see me when they're the ones that are ready.
Today I went in for the first half of my root canal procedure where I was told at the very end I WILL need a crown putting over, a grey one will cost £250 and a white one (which he highly reccomends) will cost £450. He told me to go away and think about if I wanted the grey or the white. I got to the front desk where the receptionist told me I'd need to make a desposit for the next treatment I was having where I told her I don't need to because I already paid upfront the last time I came. She told me the deposit was for the crown I was having? I never agreed to having the crown yet, I was just told I HAD to have it?
After paying the deposit, sitting in my car on the phone, crying, to my mum several times about how I couldn't afford the treatment (given I am 20 years old with a low paying payroll admin job) she decided to call the dentist on my behalf where she was told "Kyra was given the option to have a crown or not, she chose she wanted one" (????) I was not given the option as I'm pretty sure I'd of chosen to pay £0 rather than £250/£450. My mum was then told the £50 deposit was to pay for my root canal treatment, when my mum told them I'd already paid upfront from my last appointment they told her their screens were playing up and they couldn't see this but they would have a look into this and refund me the money back tomorrow.
As I said, all staff are lovely and up until 16 I had not one bad word to say about this dentist. But if you are young and have to start paying for treatment but don't have a clue about how it all works, BE CAREFUL because they will take advantage of your minimum knowledge! Always speak to your parents or an adult after you've had treatment. If my mum was available to come in all appointments with me, if definitely take her because I'm sure I would never be taken advantage of again!
