Firstly, it has been impossible to cancel my membership. I first cancelled it with DW Fitness (July 2020) who did not process it. And when Everlast took over I then went into the gym in October 2020 and they would not cancel it on the spot and told me to email memberships. I emailed cancellation but received nothing back however with lockdowns I hoped that this was the end. Come the first week out of lockdown (April 2021) I receive another apparent unpaid bill. This time I rang because they now had a phone number, still 40 mins on hold. I apparently did not send an email, but luckily I still had the email cancellation. Even though this was the third time of trying to leave this gym they still wanted a final payment and used no evidence and apparent gym 'freezes' as an excuse. Paid and asked for a confirmation of cancellation. Good ridden Other reasons.... Like most large gyms once they get you signed up it's job done! Little things like telling you about registering your number plate if you park longer than 2 hours otherwise you get a parking fine always helps. At peak times it is impossible to get onto the free weights or onto a bench. Covid might have changed this! There is no atmosphere and I got bored after around 2 months. This has never happened in 20 years of training. My brother came for one session and didn't bother coming back. I was told that the equipment was getting updated, which basically meant same machines but newer. Support your small local gyms, they will appreciate your business.
