I have just completed an implant with Dr Paul Au. It went absolutely smoothly, no pain, no discomfort afterward, everything was completed with great tenacity and perfection. I feel that I had the most professional and friendly care in the clinic from everyone working there and I would highly recommend all services at Essential Dental Care! All the staff are friendly, helpful and caring and the treatment is ALWAYS completely painless and gentle. Having just completed my Invisalign treatment, I am delighted with my new straight teeth. I was surprised at how quick it was to straighten my teeth and the clear braces were very subtle. Really great dental care. Professional, calm and caring. Just what you need from a dentist. I had some complicated dental care provided by Dr Au and I am very pleased with the outcome. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Dr Au and his team for great value private dental care.

Well here’s my experience of this practice. I have given it 3 stars because yes treatments were painless and I was recommended some great mouthwash which has changed my life! And the hygienist was absolutely wonderful. But every time I went to see Dr Paul Au, he found fillings. For years and years, over a decade, before going to see him, I never had any fillings. Ok so maybe it was a weird period of my life. But the last time I saw him he found a filling he wanted to treat. I said I couldn’t afford it and he said it could wait a bit, with a pained look, but to come back in a couple of months. I left Edinburgh after that and 3 years later, having seen 3 different dentists over the years, no fillings! He also once made a mistake on a prescription I urgently needed and the pharmacist had to phone him to check what he meant to prescribe… so if I lived in Edinburgh still I wouldn’t see him. But I miss the hygienist so much!! Have never found a hygienist so caring and who cleans teeth so well and who is so careful not to cause pain (hope she still works there!)

I've been a patient of Dr. Paul Au since moving to Edinburgh in 2017 and would highly recommend his practice. The quality of work and follow up care is second to none. On the rare occasion I had a problem with a filling, I was seen immediately by Dr. Au and had the issue rectified on the spot. Dr. Au also now offers the latest in dental cleaning (guided biofilm therapy) which I found much more comfortable than standard cleaning, and also very impressed with the results. Overall, I would highly recommend Essential Dental Care.
