Shocking service with rude, inexperienced staff. Mediocre food and drink with extortionate price tag. Afternoon tea was fairly good as was breakfast, albeit with incredibly slow service. Dinner was poor, service even worse. The worst thing about this place is the dirt. Our room wasn't clean and I took a robe out of the wardrobe to find it stained with what looked like fake tan. Glasses and plates are never cleared from tables and the staff seem to wander about in a daze waiting for a grown up to arrive. So-called duty manager was a joke. He seemed more concerned about making his life easy than offering anything approaching service. Raised his voice and argued with me with is never acceptable, even if I was being difficult (I was by this point). The main building is lovely, the modern extension less so, but the whole place feels like a second-rate wedding venue where corners are cut endlessly to save a penny here and there. Cutting to the chase - having spent over £1,000 on a suite, food, wine and so on I feel totally ripped off.

4/ 5

Overall, the hotel is in a lovely location and in beautiful surroundings. The rooms are really nice and the food is excellent and isn't too fussy. The spa is also great and the people doing the treatments were really good. However, the reason the review is four star is the service just isn't good enough for the amount of money you pay. A lot of the restaurant staff and front of house staff were super inexperienced and not the most friendly. Do suggest hiring more experienced people who have worked in service for a long time or putting the time into training the staff as it was obvious that many of the staff had no 5 star hotel training.

We booked for an afternoon tea in the Cotswold and we decided to try Ellenborough Park because the food and location offer was amazing already from the website. We arrived there in this beautiful manor overlooking Cheltenham racecourse on the horizon and we seated in the Main Hall to enjoy the afternoon tea. The room was stunning with lot of history around us. The service by Jonathan was superb, he chatted with us when he was bringing the food and explained a lot about the food and the place where we were, his service made the whole experience amazing. Afternoon tea has a very good range of teas and pastries all nicely presented, we felt welcomed from the beginning until the end of our time there. Than you again to the team at Ellenborough Park and especially to Jonathan!

4/ 5

Lovely place. The building is beautiful. The staff were really friendly and helpful and patient with a group with young children. Food was fab. Outdoor pool lovely. A few minor things in the room didn't work but nothing to complain about. All in all a lovely place for a family meet up.
