Visited the surgery, went to the wrong building in the first instance where I was greeted with a friendly lady who kindly showed me to the surgery around the corner. I entered the surgery greeted the receptionist in a warm friendly manner and asked if I could register with the surgery, I realised I had forgotten to print a bank statement with my new address and also mentioned this. The response was cold, harsh and far from what I would expect from a care/health environment. I only asked to register and make an appointment at no time did I demand or say that I needed the appointment urgently and was met with a disclosure of a massive backlog they have registrations, an appointment wouldn't be available for two weeks after the registration. She was giving problems right away and being defensive when I had not even put any timelines or deadlines on this appointment. She then said I had a dr already (which I do in East Kilbride) but have recently moved, her response 'you can call them'. I explained that they are in East Kilbride. 'well it's telephone consultations anyway'. So with that I kindly asked for my form back. She clearly had way too much work to do and a backlog of registrations I did not want to add to her burden. Came home made an appointment with a GP through Glasgow Medical Rooms which might cost me some money but at least I don't need to deal with rude receptionists who feel they are doing some sort of favour when in fact I pay NI I often pay elsewhere for other treatments to avoid the NHS anyway so I'm not exactly a burden on this service. I understand the pressure but when someone greets you in a pleasant manner the decent way to behave is to respond in the same. I left the surgery in tears after asking for the form back. I just hope whatever misery that women is going through in her life she will realise that others may be going through some difficult times too and a friendly smile and help with a registration could go a long way.
I've had great experiences at this surgery. The nurse Lisa was brilliant and I left feeling very reassured. The receptionists are also lovely, polite and helpful.
Why can you not do timed telephone appointments? I work long days and can't sit waiting by a phone all day.
Spent 3 hours on phone to take an appointment and finally couldn't
can never get an appointment ever and for someone like myself who works i need a set day for an appointment not call up everyday to see if there is any availability
