I have been going to this GP for 4 years. I didn't really have many medical issues until now. However, recently I had issues with my toe nail and they asked me to send in some toe nail clippings so they can analyse them to decide which medication is best. That was almost a month ago. I called them about 2 weeks ago asking if the results were in. They weren't, which is fine, it takes time. But what shocked me was that when I said "okay, so you'll call me when they're ready?" they said "No. You have to call us." That was my first hint that the service was horrible. The second came today when I called from Latvia to ask about my toe nail because it's falling off. I received a call back from the doctor who spoke to me for the best part of 30 seconds to say "You're not in the UK? Go see your local doctor." I don't speak Latvian! I thought the health care system was supposed to help people, and thus that the people who work within it would have chosen this practice because they want to help people. The general atmosphere is unwelcoming as well. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so much as smile any time I went. Truly terrible. I never thought I would care enough to change my GP but clearly I was wrong. I advise everyone to steer clear of Denburn Medical Practice. Edit: update on my toe's journey! I called to ask about my results. The receptionist (as enthusiastic as always) informed me that the doctors couldn't find anything in the toe nail extract. She then told me that she would get a doctor to call me back to let me know more details (i.e. what to do now). Nobody has called me. Probably because I need to "speak to a local doctor". I now have no toe nail and no information about what went wrong with my toe. Yet, this practice clearly believes that I am of no concern to them anymore. I'll let them know if I lose my foot!

It is 2019 and the practice is still not able to call international numbers to make/arrange a simple appointment. This in such an international city as Aberdeen.

great GP's who took the time and were careful in their practice, got to respect them for not being pushed into patient led plans but was a bit inflexible at times. Main issues was that I temporarily lived in a van for some time, I explained this but reception enforced a need proof of address which was simply an impossible barrier to getting NHS care. so had to register under a false address with a fabricated utility bill because the receptionist wouldn't allow me access to a doctor otherwise or allow me to register a relative's address to which the car and my finances were registered and meant I didn't get any referral appointment letters and these confidential documents were going to a false address somewhere, not ideal. Don't know how the true travelling population manage. Receptionists weren't always helpful, reception being barrier to care at times rather than facilitating. sticking to the rules isn't always the right thing to do.

Receptionists don't care about your mental health. Made a phone call if I could get another prescription because I was out of meds. They said no. And didn't let me even speak to the doctor.

When the doctor calls you at 10:30 & asks you to pick up the prescription as soon as possible you would assume that it will be ready when you go in at 13:00, isn’t it? I travelled today during my lunch time at work all the way from Mastrick to be told that prescriptions are ready only after 14:00, even the emergency ones! Time & taxi fares wasted! Also, the person at the reception told me the practice closes at 18:00 so I can come in after work to pick it up but now I’m checking online & it says it’s open only till 17:00?! I’m really not happy about this..!!

I have been registered at Denburn Health Centre for over 12 years. I have a chronic condition so have seen many doctors over the years. Usually doctors are quick to respond and schedule an appointment sometimes even on the same day that you call . Yes its been delays and lots of inconvenience has been caused due to COVID, but its not just Denburn Health Centre, its literally happening everywhere regardless its a medical practise or a grocery store

Having been a patient with the Denburn for many years I can only commend both doctors and the other staff for their kindness and consideration in helping me through these last few years. We can all understand that everyone at the Denburn have been under extreme pressure during this covid 19 outbreak. However this has not affected my treatment. Well done you lot. Keep smiling and keep safe.

Can't thank the surgery enough, both receptionist as well as Dr Nicol whom I spoke to regarding an ongoing health issue. I felt listened to and was given appropriate advice and prescribed an anti biotic the same day. Now that's what I call a great service.
