16.07: Very very poor customer service for value they claim. Would not recommend at all. Update 02.08: still waiting for a response from management as well as my refund for nearly 1 month now, after chasing their sales manager several times
Having been a previous member of DL, I decided to rejoin again after COVID restrictions had been lifted. I quite like the club and was happy to be back. I’m a Platinum Plus member, so I took some time to visit other branches and it struck me just how behind Luton actually is. The staff are great and the customer service is top standard, but when it comes to the facilities, I feel like a lot more needs to be done. The gym is pretty much exactly how it was from when I was a member a few years ago. It lacks some pretty vital equipment which would be standard in any other gym. There is a lot of wasted space, especially in the middle where I think machines could be better placed to reduce crowding and traffic. The changing facilities have always been clean and well kept, as is the pool. I know a lot of other members who have the same criticisms, and there seems to be a mutual agreement that it is generally very outdated. This may come down to how much funding this branch receives, but given the cost of a membership here it’s alarming how much the maintenance of the club is lacking. My biggest complaint would be the restricted hours being kept in place. I try to visit other branches every so often in order to get the most out of the cost of my membership. All in all, it’s not a terrible club. It does however have a long way to go before it can be considered the best money can buy in this area.
The worst run DL I have ever come across. GM needs to pull his finger out and run the club properly. Wish I'd known how poorly this club is run before committing such a large sum of money on the contract. And when they're trying to sign you up they'll always say "oh just go platinum and you can change it at any time". DON'T BELIEVE THIS. What they really mean is you'll end up signing up on a 12m contract at the platinum rate and wont be able to amend that until your 12m is complete. And knowing how incompetent they are at fixing anything, you'll probably still struggle to change that. Management need to take a good, long look in the mirror!!!
