I was booked in to stay here but I fell ill the day before travelling and couldn’t make it. The hotel were really lovely to deal with even though I cancelled so last minute. A lovely lady rang me (apologies I cannot remember her name) and sorted everything over the phone. A friend of mine did stay at this hotel the same weekend and contacted me saying she loved the hotel and that it was super cosy and thanked me for recommending it to her 🙂

Just had another wonderful stay at Clifton House. As ever, I arrive after reception has shut but not before my telephone call from Lorraine to check on me 😂 They leave the key with a little note in the safety deposit box outside and I sneak in like I’m going back to my mum’s house. Rooms are always immaculate and staff friendly. The hotel is a renovated house so sure the sound proofing isn’t great and the seagulls are a great alarm clock but nothing a pair of earplugs wouldn’t solve. The breakfast menu is small and manageable - as it should be and nothing is too much trouble. Will continue to stay here when I travel to Bristol for business.

Traditional old style hotel with lots of character & charm. Lorraine the owner is lovely and could not do enough for everyone. The bed was comfortable and the room was quite. Breakfast was fresh and very tasty. We will definitely book again. X

I'll keep it short: don't get a standard room. Based on the pictures shown here, this property does have nicely appointed rooms; mine (#17) was Spartan. That said, the owner is delightful, breakfast is fine, and the location is convenient yet quiet.
