Our High Streets have changed with wine bars, charity shops and branches of the big coffee chains replacing traditional stores. So when you come across a window crammed with hardware goods from a previous era you may feel you’ve entered a time warp. No need to pinch yourself. The items have been placed there deliberately – an aspect of the owners’ dry sense of humour. Inside you’ll find all the usual household goods and DIY essentials from the basic to the bang-up-to-date. And, in the unlikely event of their not having what you want, they’ll order it for you. Yet there is one old-fashioned element that’s for real – helpful service and expert advice given in an unhurried and professional manner. Time to give the online sites and out-of-town outlets a miss and make the most of an independent store we’re lucky enough to have on our doorstep.

Rang before I went to ask if they had what I needed, they took the time to look for it, so I didn't waste my time. When I went, staff was very friendly.

What an Aladdin's cave of hardware treasures, but don't tell the owner, as he has heard it enough. a proper old time hardware store, people had warned me the owner was very grumpy , but this was not at all the case, seemed very friendly and helpful , great price on key cutting. I will be back for more bits and pieces . P.s. no four candle jokes.
