4/ 5

I've been with Central Park Medical Centre since before they joined practices with Martins Lane Surgery, back when the surgery was on Liscard Road. Before then I was with Martins Lane Surgery but left because of how rude the receptionists were and how difficult it was to get an appointment.. So you can imagine my disappointment after finding out a surgery that I'd moved from was now joining practice with a surgery I'd moved to. At first, after the inital move, things went ok. Everyone got used to things but trying to get through on the phone became a constant battle. The phone lines would permanently ring out or be off the hook engaged -which I must be honest went on for some time - eventually it was resolved and it was all put down to some teething problems. After a short while the bad habbits of the rude receptionists came seeping through again and you'd hear the same rude receptionist time and time again like before at Martins Lane, the same reason I left Martins Lane in the first place. After a short while I think a few receptionists had rubbed off on others too at the new surgry and sadly almost all them came accross as rude when making an appointment, so rude in fact that I used to feel anxious when ringing to make a simple doctors appointment or to ask for test results. I later found out I wasn't alone and so many other family and friends felt the same way when trying to call the surgery. There is now a few nice receptionists and although the odd ones still try to ruin it for the rest (not all of them are the same) thankfulky, and some actully are polite and care. I have stayed with this surgery for many years (but still not as long as some) but, I've stayed. My main reason is because they do still have a good few doctors here and although appointments are hard to get at time's, and results can be slow, and a few times I've been booked a telephone consultation - that never has happened - I do still think the doctors here work hard and they do try, and they do care for their patients. My advice to Central Park would be to maybe stop taking on new patient's at present because the few who have stuck with you through thick and thin and for *many* years are being neglected and aren't really getting looked after like they should. I think, you have far too many patients and very few doctors and its having a knock on effect (ie) less appointments for patients and more demands on the receptionsts. The receptionists then take most of the flack for the poorly run system from patients and they then have to then turn patients away when all the appointment slots are filled at just a few minutes past 8am when the surgery opens because they're all full up. The public then in turn get stressed and I assume at times can be rude (from frustration) - which then leaves the receptionist with their backs up and rude themselves to other patients for the rest of the day - (which then doesn't look very professional) - this then leaves (everyone) miserable - ie staff and patients and it really is having a total *negative* knock on effect for all. I underatand patients on the books equals more money for the surgery - but at what cost is it really? I mean if people can't get an appointmet when needed then what's the point? They're only going to leave the surgery anyway in the long run - or wait until a small problem becomes a bigger one to fix (in a 10minute time slot.) To top it all off them people then leave negative reviews for all to see on the likes of here - and word of mouth goes a long way which Is sad because the "Old Central Park" run so smoothly and really was once a great surgery ie Always appointments available (same day), and we didn't have a 10minute slot too to tell our doctors the problem and doctors actually spoke to us and listened without looking at the clock. Now we're just like conveyor belt patient which is sad and so frustrating - especially when you've waited weeks for an appintment and the drs can only spare 10minutes of time because they're so snowed under with work and other patients to see waiting outside.

If I could give this doctors zero stars I would! Absolutely disgusted at how impossible it has become to just get an appointment to see a gp! Now have to call first thing in the morning just to be offered a phone consultation which you wait hours for, to be possibley offered an appointment later in the day so you have to set a whole day aside just for this! To pre-book an appointment you have to wait a month!!!! Just ridiculous, for busy working single mums like myself this just isn't good enough. Made to feel, by the snotty receptionist on the phone, that you are asking for the world just wanting to come and speak to a gp face to face!!! I will be starting the process of changing doctors tomorrow.

Once again I am sat waiting due to mistakes made by staff at this gp practice again I have to waste my time because the gp cannot perform a simple task of updating the consultation notes to include the increase in dosage of my medication. Third time lucky hey. This gp practice is a joke the staff don't no what is going on. After making a complaint I am still waiting for a response........ Would not recommend this practice to anyone.

Would not give 1 star at all. This practise let my 96yr old Mum down big style. No doctors went to see her for 6mths. I knew she wasn't well by the sound of her voice, living away you get to know when something isn't right .She had heart and kidney problems but the heart nurse took no notice about the kidneys .I phoned the surgery for a visit but all they did was a phone appointment.I Phoned again saying she needed to be seen and said I would keep phoning until a doctor went to see her that worked but all they did was order a bed and no help.I went up on the Sunday and saw how ill she was ,on the Tuesday mum went into hospital but passed away 10 days later.I believe she would still be here if the doctors had done their job properly and not ignored her.

Always a fight to get an appointment. My daughter is 14 months old and I have to fight for appts for her to be have a telephone appointment never mind be seen! 102 attempts to get through to practice to be told no, try again tomorrow or to call 111. Absolutely disgusting. I am currently researching into other practices with view of moving our entire family elsewhere. Shouldn’t be this stressful to access basic healthcare!
