This is the first negative review I have felt needed to be left. The reception team, nurse practitioner, physio and two of the Doctors are great which has earned back a star from what would have been none. However, the majority of my recent experiences have been disappointing if not utterly unhelpful or even outright confrontational.
I have been a patient here since childhood but when the GP Partnership ended it has been one thing after another in a trail of horrendously poor service. I have submitted a formal complaint, another first, if new owners 2C Social Enterprise Group can turn things around I am more than happy to update my review.
Whilst there are some good GPs at the practice you cannot get appointments with them and this is no use when you need urgent care. Ultimately if you can't get help and care when you need it then the GP Practice is not delivering.
The E Consult Service particularly when all appointments were required to be booked this way is unworkable. Now it's just for urgent care it leaves a bitter taste as it is not fit for purpose continuously instructing you to call 111 or 999 unless you back track and claim to be healthy. The system is also not suitable for chronic illness or existing diagnosed conditions. The worst part is after 30-40 minutes of repeating your answers across multiple identical sections if it decides you're too ill to be seen at your practice none of this is saved unless (as above) you reduce your answers effectively saying there is nothing wrong.
For those with chronic illness or diagnosed conditions needing regular support being unable to contact a GP who is familiar with your medical history isn't workable. The constant repetition of your medical history and different opinions from GPs on treatment, misreading or frankly not reading notes makes each encounter torturous. It can be worse when a GP is dismissive or doesn't understand your condition despite specialists making care recommendations.
In short, if you have options to use another practice it is best to do so. Things may improve under new management but it won't happen overnight and I don't imagine the existing Doctors that are a big part of the problem will be going anywhere in the near future as they will be contracted to the practice.
