Having finally gotten through to reception I booked my partner a birthday spa treat (which included a two course lunch, champagne, spa access and a massage). A few days later the email confirmation arrived for an afternoon tea!! Having contested that this is inappropriate and not what was confirmed when the booking was made I am still having to continue to contest this...

Visited for a day spa, which was only possible to book on a weekday, as for hotel guests only at the weekend - this was not mentioned when vouchers were purchased. Treatments and therapists were first class, felt very relaxed and well looked after. Unlike some other places, we had to get dressed and walk up to the hotel for lunch, which broke the spell a little. Especially as you could either choose to be seated in a lounge area where the tables were too low to eat a proper meal off (only really suitable for afternoon tea/finger food), or in the bar area, where the table top was very wobbly at first table. It was OK, but the service and surroundings didn't really live up to the rest of the luxurious spa experience of the actual spa area. The food however was excellent and there was lots of it! Although even though the spa package included lunch, we did have to pay for the drinks (non alcoholic and only 1 each) that we had with our meal. It felt like unnecessary penny pinching, considering the price of the day and drinks have been included at every other spa day I've been to. Overall though it was a lovely day and can't fault the actual spa, or spa staff who were wonderful.
