Apart from a couple of dodgy computer malfunctions everything went very well and my patience in being switched from one terminal to another and then on to yet another, without getting all stroppy about it, landed me a nice upgraded spec car, just what the doctor ordered... and staff were great too, what not to like..? Recommended.

It's not often that I am gonna leave bad reviews but believe me when I say they are ridiculously bad. I would have given 0 stars if I could. Made the whole booking with a valid debit card. Nowhere to be seen that they require credit cards. They accepts payments with debit but you cannot pickup a car with it. This is not made obvious anywhere before you book the car or anything. I am aware all car rentals are as bad as it gets but really never again. I would only use apps for local car rentals.

DO NOT HIRE FROM HERE!!! We hired a car from here a month ago. When we returned it they claimed there were items missing from the car which were there when we picked it up. This was an outright lie, for which they offered no evidence and we had never signed an inventory list, just the normal damage report. We disagreed and refused to sign. A few days later they withdrew the funds anyway without consent. We are now considering reporting this matter to the police as Avis/budget have technically stolen money from our account with no legal justification to do so. Again: DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE CRIMINALS!!!

THE WORST DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THEM!!!!! A total rip off. Told us that we damaged a wheel on the car. We didn't see any damage and funny enough that was the first thing that the guy that did the inspections went too. They are very unprofessional and looking for a money grab from you. BEWARE!!!!!

Awful place, wouldn't recommend. Worth noting Avis & Budget are combined in the Car Rental Centre. It's not clear from the queue & the staff won't help you figure that out. I booked through a third party so thought it would be hassle free. Queued for ages, which was not ideal after a flight. Other desks moved much faster. One employee was being assessed by his manager, so I'm not sure of he's normally that loud & obnoxious, but while I queued I got to hear his life story. Loudly. I finally got to see the man next time him who I then couldn't hear because he spoke softly & loud man was drowning him out. They immediately started to try to upsell me & get me to pay for extras I didn't want, but luckily I know to expect this. I'd paid for extra insurance to lower my deposit, but when the guy discussed this he made it sound like I would have to leave a bigger deposit. I called my partner over (sometimes sadly having a man with you makes other men less likely to talk to you like you're dumb) & the staff member said "you're not listening to me" in quite an annoyed tone. When I called my partner over the lady on the next Budget desk laughed at me & rolled her eyes. Admittedly I had misunderstood & was groggy, but he had explained badly & that was not the appropriate was to handle the misunderstanding. People know the reputation of car hire companies, so they'd be better off studying good customer service to help restore a bit of that faith. I have to say one good thing, the guys we returned the car to were a delight. They clearly have far better customer service skills than anyone sitting behind the desks.

I'd like to add to the warnings of scams/lying from this business. The agents blatantly lied to us about the Fuel Up Front option, explicitly assuring me that we would be refunded for any gas we didn't use. We mistakenly trusted the (very friendly) agents and are out £70 for a car we returned nearly full. Then, a week after returning the car (in exactly the same condition we received it) charged my girlfriend's card for double the price we were quoted at pickup with no explanation. I recognize car rental can be on the slimy side, especially at an airport, but is it too much to ask that the agents not blatantly lie?

Avis Budget Edinburgh Airport overcharged us. Several days after we delivered the car, Avis Budget took more money than the value that we had signed. They took the money from the caution that We had done. We asked the reasons several times by e-mail and they never answered us.

SCAM ALERT!! In reference to the review below about the Budget guy doing a shell game to jack up the price, Mikey recently did the same thing to us! Talked about where we were from, our state dog, and other chitchat. Tried to upsell us a Mercedes and I finally said we wanted to keep the original contract. I asked about the increased price and he said that was for a deposit. It wasn’t until we got the final bill after return during non-office hours that the original $300 estimate was now $550. So far, budget has been of no use correcting in this. Yes, I electronically signed the revised contract, but only after Mikey assured me that everything was what I had originally reserved for.

Friendly and attentive team only wish was to have them show us a little bit of the vehicle amenities and controls before we left struggled a bit on what controlled what. Especially on the steering wheel sticks.

We rented and paid for an online booking. When we reached the airport, the guy was joking, trying to be very nice, saying how much he loved our country, saying some words in our language.. he said that we had very high insurance. He was managing how to reduce it... Obviously, he knew we did not understand anything and tried (and successed to distract us) to make us pay 96 extra pounds for super-extras that we were not looking for. Everytime I was asking him, he answered very fast and with a very suspicious attitude, like if we weren't trusting him. If we didn't agree and sign, we couldn't take the car. It is not an honest company. I sent an email to the invoice service and they answered that I signed voluntarily the contract. This guy is still laughing at us and the company as well. Be careful with every single detail and don't even listen to the person who is talking to you.
