The cleaners work hard under difficult conditions. We had a twin room (two single beds), the room was large, and as clean as could be expected for a building that needs a lot of work. Nice bathroom, plenty of hot water and clean towels. There are not enough lifts. The owners appear to have chosen not to have the broken one repaired, which means long waits for the lifts. Yet there is nowhere to sit while you are waiting. There are plenty of useless console tables, shabby chests of drawers and hideous statues located right next to lift doors, but not a chair in sight. The location is the best thing this hotel. It was undoubtedly magnificent in its day. It would be so great if it were taken over by people who care about the building and the hospitality business.

Was booked in to here with Just Go! Holidays. Must have been an amazing place. So much art deco still remains. Does need a lot of tlc but was warm, clean, food good and very friendly staff. What else can you want, especially for the money.

Beautiful place, good room size and very clean. Our room only had a bath and no shower. We were offered a change but declined. Food was good and service was great. Fantastic staff. Only gave 4 stars as The wave bar was cheap but the bar staff need a customer service course. Appalling service.

Couldn’t be more central and the staff were great. Loses points because I never thought a place could be both so beautiful and run down. Needs some TLC. The software staff were using was booting them out as they tried to work. Also, they offer both smoking and non smoking rooms. I didn’t realise but the staff were happy and quick to move me to a non smoking when I asked. Easy to check out

An impressive Hotel centrally located in Liverpool. We were part of a bus tour so the dining standards and arrangements were pretty basic. Our room on the 2nd floor backed onto where the main extractors were located and as they kept switching on and off all night the noise kept us awake. The rooms located here should at least be sound insulated and have air conditioning as the room and the whole of the second floor was incredibly hot. This hotel could a fantastic tourist attraction if it could be updated as the rooms and facilities are really dated.

Want to stay at a hotel straight out of a Stephen King book? Look no further! Complete with the creepy wardrobe behind the mirror. Just needs two twins stood in the hallway. Room was alright, not as bad as some of reviews on here claim. I like the old look to the place. Would probably stay again

I enjoyed my stay here. Dated but a lot of character, needs a coat of paint. Room was clean heated and water pressure great. Staff lovely and room facilities were good. Food good and room right at front of hotel so didn't miss out on the buzz if Liverpool's nightlife but didn't interfere with my sleep 😴.

Public areas are impressive at first glance but the whole building is run down and shoddy. Arrived with coach party. Reception was chaotic. Room was dirty, needed redecorating. Stains in sink and bath, plaster peeling, dirty sofa. Woodwork old and scratched. Draw front falling off. Towels and sheets were clean. Dinner was OK, breakfast good. Rose wine tasted funny and was sent back. Hotel had little atmosphere, it was sad and truly beyond help.

The rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Friendly staff. The room is quite nice and big. Bed is big enough for a couple. Comfortable pillow and beds. There is a hair dryer and some complimentary tea and coffee. They also provided and extra shampoo and body wasg even though we only stayed overnight.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is right in Liverpool centre. The room where they have Afternoon Tea is based on The Titanic - gorgeous. The rooms need a bit of work but the hotel is so vast it would be just too expensive.
