Very sad to say goodbye to one of the best family shops there has ever been. My grandad was working there in the 70s and my grandmother was working there and my mum was there too . Thank you Boswells you are the heart of oxford. and I will miss you .god help the family shops that are left in the high street get behind your local family shops and support them. like there support you.

A lovely traditional old style department store with little stairways and passages leading to each section. Charming. Good toy department

Try the cafe on the first floor. Good value for money. Good sized tables with comfortable seats in pleasant uncramped surroundings. An improvement over the busy, and cramped environment of Waterstones cafe next door. Sadly it appears that Boswell's Department Store, including the cafe, is now closing-down.

Local department store that has all the products you would expect (home goods, stationary, etc). Friendly staff and competitive prices on some items. There is a clearance section on the top floor with reduced priced merchandise.

Good toy section. Parts of the shop seemed dead as though if was closing down. Also security followed us for sometime

My favourite shop when I am in Oxford. Helpful, courteous assistants. I always find what's on my list, and lots more besides.

Visited on Sunday to the Tea room. Was ignored by the servers who were more keen to serve regulars who entered some time after us and promptly had a tea placed in front of them with the comment “ I saw you come in”. Still hadn’t been served so left after a long wait.
