A great looking castle with excellent views especially in nice weather which includes various activities within the grounds. Great spot for picnics too. 😊
Lovely place, great history, slightly restricted due to civid but nothing major, very informational guidebook.
I have visited the castle several times as I am local, the staff are always exceptional, and the whole place is stunning. I would recommend that anybody pays Bolsover Castle a visit.
Lovely castle, surroundings rather urban. Nowhere to sit inside with a tea.
This is easily the best castle I've ever been to! We absolutely loved it. Really interesting and you're allowed to walk round loads of it. I hate it usually when there's loads of interesting looking bits cordoned off. The views from the top were phenomenal. The garden was beautiful too and we came away with a lovely strawberry plant (we paid for it - didn't just pick it!). The staff were so lovely too - the lady in the gift shop was so kind and engaging with my three year old and we can't wait to go back for the events in the summer! Thoroughly recommend.
Weeks, months ago, I went on a walk on the path below this castle, it was amazing, but I had to go really quickly due to drama with (I think that someone dropped something in the grass and police was there) and I didn't take any photos, but just giving this detailed description of the walk. Bolsover castle: I have walked with my family numerous times through the castle, it's big and all old, and the stairs are narrow, but I enjoyed it.
A well maintained historic castle. Part of it is ruins and part of it preserved. The views are amazing with really good garden. The receptionist guy was very courteous and gave us a broad overview of what to expect and what to do. We really enjoyed our visit
A great place to visit outside Chesterfield! There are a few buildings to look at and walk around. Some are ruins with information and others you can go inside. The best part is the Tower in the middle, based on the White Tower at the Tower of London. Lovely, helpful staff!
This is a very interesting English Heritage building. Whilst it is not a true medieval castle it was built on the site of one and the "little castle" is really well preserved. The walled gardens are lovely and the stables are really interesting ... And I learned from a very knowledgeable and interesting guide how modern day dressage originated. Four legged tanks!
