I love Blackwell's. This independently owned book shop is bigger on the inside, both in terms of its size and the amount of stories you'll find yourself in as you go around. They do excellent 3-for-2 specials. The staff are helpful, friendly and easy to find! You'll enjoy a great hour or so easily, if not perusing the shelves, then enjoying their excellent sofas.

I love browsing in this shop. It has an excellent selection, a very friendly staff and a section devoted to Scotland. The children's section is wonderful with books for all ages. There is also a section devoted to games.

Loved this bookstore very close to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh! Lots of geeky shops nearby as well. Prices were very decent (got a Living Nature brand Highland Cow plush for £9.99 compared to £13-17 elsewhere at one of the shops in the castle or shops on the Royal Mile) and it's a pretty basic bookshop with the normal things you'd find, but as a tourist I appreciated the wide selection of Scotland-specific books, cards, prints, mugs, etc. Check out these cool notebooks they had made of up-cycled books:

They have EVERYTHING, and the staff are always super friendly and ready to help! I've had great experiences here with buying (and selling back) textbooks as well as just buying books and other fun things. They usually have a great selection around Christmas for stocking suffers and other gifts, and always have a 3 for 2 deal going on with select paperbacks!

Delightful old bookshop that meanders over several floors and offers a great selection of books and games. When we visited there was a sale on with many great gift ideas at reduced prices. However, even out of sale time this bookshop is well worth a visit, for even if you have just come to browse it is more than likely you will find a gem to take away. Staff were fantastic and there is enough space and it is set up to help with social distancing.

I live in a fairly small town, our nearest city isn't a patch on Edinburgh and our local game store isn't a patch (size wise) on the one in Blackwell's basement. Very impressive to me, lots of stock. Only negative is the prices... A good £5 - £15 Mark up on the Internet. I get that proper stores have higher costs but that's steep. Support stores like this if you can afford too.

Ha! Bookshop in Edinburgh that's a win win. This shop has a lovely relaxed vibe. I always enjoy browsing in bookshops in Scotland because the Scots actually have crime writers who don't get as much recognition in London as they should. Even with the Internet bookshops do such an awesome job in bringing authors to public attention. This is particularly important while the libraries have been on reduced access, seriously I got kicked out of a library in southwark because I sat down to read a graphic novel! So thanks Blackwell and thanks Edinburgh.
