In a city full of very fancy, but expensive hotels, or some dubious ones; black ivy is excellent. Small enough to feel personal, decent rooms with big tall ceilings. Immaculately clean. Great shower. Excellent Christmas decorations. good food and a fun bar downstairs that has a great vibe to it with live music (you can't hear it in your bedroom) regularly. Lovely views across the links park and great bus connection to city. Good local pubs and restaurants. Perfect. If we could; we'd be back.

A beautiful building with an equally stunning interior. Room was perfect. We ate in the restaurant too. Meals were very good at a decent price with a good selection of wine. Friendly staff. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and really didn't want to leave!

Lovely hotel. Nice welcome and room immaculate. Was a wee bit noisy at night with sound of the bar downstairs. Breakfast was good, only lukewarm but in a hurry so would probably have returned it to be warmed up normally. All very nicely decorated and staff professional.

Lovely during the Christmas season the building outside of the black ivy is beautiful and very festive. The drinks are just as nice as say the canny man in morningside and roughly the same price. The interior is beautifully decorated and the restaurant looks fabulous. Will definitely take the wife back after the festive period.

Excellent service. The Staff are amazing and nothing is a problem. The food is out of this world and large portions . We will definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. You can keep your big chain hotels . If you want a hotel with a friendly atmosphere, bar and great food then this is the place. Also only a short walk and 23 bus to town ..

Wow! Great food, great service and the decor is beautiful. I'd never even heard of this place prior to visiting before the rugby on Saturday (13/11/21) but would go back in a heart beat. We had breakfast and stayed for an hour or so until time to go to Murrayfield. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the surroundings are beautiful. The food is delicious! There were 7 of us there and we had 4 full Scottish skillets, a bacon muffin, stack muffin and a smoked salmon breakfast. (Although I'm guessing with the last one to a degree as I just remember it had smoked salmon but not what it came with...just that it was spoken of highly. ) Every dish was enjoyed and appreciated. The drinks choice is good and varied and suited all our tastes. If you are in the area, definitely give it a try and I have no doubt you'll enjoy it.

It's a long time since we stayed in a hotel this good. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the high standard, attentive, courteous, helpful staff at all levels. The hotel is beautiful, spotless with extra touches throughout. We would not hesitate to return here and would highly recommend the hotel and the staff.

Used only bar and restaurant several times thus year. Food good, staff friendly, nice place but.. masks under noses. Why bother? Understand how Covid spreads, help drive it down. You serve clean water, why not clean air? Fitted masks help keep customers and staff and their families well.
