I needed to find a new Doctor and was told this is in my catchment area. I found it next to a vets. I wish I’d have gone there because the welcome I got was absolutely appalling. I unknowingly made the the mistake of going on a Monday. This is not the day for new registrations and not before 10.30am either. I was told that by the receptionist in the manner of an Army drill sergeant! Updating my review... I did return on a Friday and was greeted by a more pleasant receptionist so I have increased the star level one more. We will see if more improvements are made...

Booking emergency appointment with the surgery is ridiculous. You should call at 8.30 in the morning to book the appointment on that day no matter how serious you are. Atleast it would take 50 calls for 15 minutes. Once you get the call, they say all the appointments were booked. If you want next day appointment, you can't get it. Again you should call next day 8.30. All is your luck. It's not surgery. It's a lucky draw. Bad experience. I should change from them.

the doctors at this surgery are first class however the reception manageress has a lot to learn about customer care , she is rude, uncaring, and wont listen to the patients needs. I was a senior manager for 500 staff and thousands of customers every day so I do know what I am talking about we won the gold award for customer service 14 out of 16 years I was the manager, I hope this person is sent on a customer handling course to improve the experience of visiting the doctors.

I have been with this surgery for over 35 years. In all this time they have been amazing. Helpful, kind, caring and thorough. A huge support with my elderly parents. The dr’s are exceptional. The receptionists were always so helpful and couldn’t do enough but where have they gone? Sadly it’s not the same. Instead a new abrupt and uncaring voice.

I wonder how many people would cope with a phone line constantly ringing in their ears? So, spare a thought for the staff here who, have to deal with this day in day out. Yes, it is difficult sometimes to get through to make an appointment. But, that’s to be expected for a BUSY surgery! Even in a large Hospital you have to wait for a long time to be seen. It’s the sign of the times. In a perfect world we’d all like to get through first time, not be in a queue and spend half an hour with a doctor telling them all about yourself. Well? Have some patience and you will eventually be attended to. I have a lot of respect for the receptionists and have not had any reason to complain. Patience are a virtue.

I've been with this surgery for over 2 years now and can't praise them enough, from the Doctors nurses HCA's and reception staff they are all brilliant. Even through the lock down we would get a telephone consultation and if we needed to be seen we would get a face to face appointment the same day. Thank you to everyone at Bitterne surgery for all your hard work.

Well I was going to book in to see why I keep blacking out and having seizures, I started calling at 8:30 exactly, and 93 dials later I just gave up. All the staff are great, can't fault them, just can't get through. I do hear one ring but then it just goes to line busy. I would go to another surgery but all the reviews are the same or worse. How am I meant to book an appointment if I can't get through?
