1/ 5

I arrived at this venue to use the spa 11th July and despite wearing an exemption card as I am unable to wear a face covering was denied entry. According to the receptionist at the time, this was because Bannatyne created its own policy to protect customers regardless of the government guidelines. I pointed out the the receptionist that there were individuals not wearing masks or socially distancing at the cafe area or within the spa/pool itself, and was only denied entry because access to AND from the changing rooms was not properly facilitated for those with exemptions. After being confronted by another lady and the janitor working around the reception explaining the reasons quote "to and from the changing room we can't let go through without a mask" and "the pool area is a quarantined area", I contacted Bannatyne to complain about this, considering that they did not take the appropriate measures to facilitate those unable to wear masks and came back with quote "Bannatyne determined that as it is not possible to ensure social distancing whilst in the health club, face masks are required to be worn by every individual unless exercising, eating or having a face-down treatment. The “without exception” means that regardless of medical conditions, this rule needs to apply". The solicitor Ed James who replied back to me with this, also replied with the fact that the receptionist offered quote "We have carefully considered your individual circumstances and have provided you with an alternative of wearing a visor. Unfortunately, as explained previously, it is not possible for you to enter the building through an alternative entrance and so this adjustment cannot be made." This is a complete lie, and only the janitor, who was working behind the receptionist at the time offered to provide me a mask after I explained I did not have one on me NOR could I wear one. Even though the guidelines have now changed, on the day and the response from Bannatyne's solicitors, has been disgusting. I felt very embarrassed being confronted by a group telling me that I couldn't use a spa because of being unable to wear a mask and also pointing out the obvious loop holes in their policy with people not wearing masks within their own building. if Bannatyne are so concerned about protecting staff according to their OWN policy, why are they selective with their mask wearing mandate in only specific areas of their building? I will never be using their services again.
