I haven’t felt this humiliated and talked down to since school about 8 years ago. Felt like I had just done something bad and been sent to the headmistresses office at school for a telling off. Went in because I woke up with conjunctivitis this morning- eyes completely gunky and watering. Knew it was conjunctivitis as I’ve had it numerous times before. Went to both Boots in Brighton before my visit, both diagnosed me with conjunctivitis and offered the ointment as drops were out of stock but I wanted the drops. So walked to Ashton’s Pharmacy. The pharmacist came over very intimidating, very close to me, no emotion on her phase completely looking down on me. Tells me to pull my eye down and states I DO NOT have conjunctivitis. This was after two places had just diagnosed me with it?!? And I knew I had it. I walked out feeling so humiliated, belittled, degraded and embarrassed. Walking in innocently as a customer asking for some help acting completely kindly and coming out and bursting into tears? I’m literally a young kind-hearted 22 year old who went in for some help. I am not an argumentative confrontational person, walked out and just burst into tears. Would not recommend anyone to go there unless you want someone to make you feel horrendous, like your a liar?! For being just a customer asking for help. If you want someone to completely ruin your day and make you feel horrendous this is the place to go. Horrible women who has let the power go to her head I hope at some point in her life learns how to treat people.

I have been picking up my meds on repeat prescription from Ashtons for a good 3 years and I've never had a problem. However yesterday I went to pick them up (i do this every month) and they refused to give them to me because apparently the prescription had NOT been authorised. They told me to call 111 and just left me empty handed. I was SHOCKED. The reason I have this meds on repeat is because my body CANNOT COPE without them, how can you just left people totally without??!! Of course, they blamed my GP but as it's a bank holiday I have no way of knowing whether this is true or not, and frankly, I doubt it, because I know I'm not due for a revision.... Luckily called 111 and they have authorised the meds for me, but seriously WTF.... NOT OK people, NOT OK!!!!

The most unhelpful & intransigent pharmacist. We went with a veterinary prescription as our very old dog called 'Angel', who had run out of Statins. They flatly refused to issued medications because "head office" had stated not to as they had to keep the prescription for 5 years.... yes that is the reason!! Do not visit this dispensing establishment as they do not want to dispense. There is a good pharmacy called Lane & Stedman on Western Road.

Have been calling for the last hour to enquire about something. The phone just rings out and then the line is busy for 10 minutes. Ridiculous. Not even going to waste my time going in there. If they can't get a decent service going on the phone lines then God knows what it's like in store. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!

This used to be a great pharmacy, a real asset for the community. Unfortunately, since being taken over by Paydens, the service has declined. If you ever sit in the shop, you are likely to witness staff searching high and low for prescriptions as though they have no real system in place. Individual members of staff are pleasant and helpful but there is a lack of management. They should also remove all reference to being a late night pharmacy as that is no longer the case.

Not open at regular times on a bank holiday and no listing of the correct opening times on their web

Not open at regular times on a bank holiday and no listing of the correct opening times on their website. Pharmacies such as this have a duty of care to their users who depend on them for their prescriptions for critical healthcare. Ashton’s has failed on this count.

The duty manager came out at exactly 6pm on Friday when I was standing in the queue to collect medicine for a baby and told me that they were closing and wouldn’t serve me. Appalling. There are plenty of other chemists within walking distance you can use that aren’t entitled and don’t take their customers and their families’ health for granted. This is by no means the first time that Ashtons have let us down. Avoid at all costs.

Never answer the phone and do not stick to opening times, but they will go out of their way to close on the dot. Don't expect them to open at 8AM.
