Very cool hotel, with unique rooms. We stayed in the bunk room with 4 adults and even though it was smaller than a typical room, it was amazing. Room was cozy and made you feel like you were on a ship with the wood and bunk setup. They pay attention to details here, from the old style radio playing jazz when entering the room to the excellent shower and hand soaps they make available. While here we checked out the bar and were delighted to find some excellent drinks accompanied by cool vibes. Staff was all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again, and will check out their other locations as well.

The Artist Residence is a new growing boutique chain with hotels in Pimlico, Brighton, Cornwall, Oxfordshire And soon in Bristol. We’ve stayed at the Artist Residence a couple of times and are looking forward to going back. It is in a great location at the top of Regency Square looking the sea and the i360 landmark and less than a 10 minute walk from the station. The Artist Residence has a good bar and restaurant but it is also close to a good selection of nearby restaurants. Our first stay we were on the first floor and this time in one of the basement rooms. I have to say we would definitely ask for the same room again next time. The rooms are a good size with a good amount of storage for clothes, along with all the usual facilities (and snacks/drinks) in the room you would expect. the room we had last time had some outdoor space which was helpful but not necessity for us. This time, the basement room also had some outdoor space but it had a ‘ceiling covering’ which meant it was dry in the rain. What we particularly liked about the basement room was the size of the room which was good but also the fact there was a ‘nook’ which had another bed (and TV) which was quite cute but also some extra space which would be good if you had young kids (or in our case extra room to read if it’s raining outside). The Artist Residence has a lovely cocktail bar which also seems popular with the locals and and equally good restaurant which again is popular with local residents. I had a lovely chat with one of the ladies about the chain and offering and we’ll be back next year.

Before I stayed here, I visited the restaurant on my last visit and had a great meal. I was really excited to check out the hotel portion of the property. Sadly, I was disappointed. They have a very strict policy on check-in times, and I got in from the US rather early and had to pass the time in the lobby, jetlagged, when all I wanted was to spend some time alone or at least freshen up. The staff were accommodating enough, but in the end, I kind of felt bad asking for what I needed. One good thing about being imprisoned in the lobby was that the food is excellent and the coffee is decent. I spent two nights here, and there was a balance of good and bad. I had a sea view room (comes with a decent view of the sea — and complimentary loud squawks from heaps of seagulls that echo along the square). The bathroom wasn't totally clean and the tea set was dirty but the bed was comfy and they actually had good complimentary tea. There wasn't a good place to work in the room, but there was ample space in the hotel's common area to work unless you had to be on calls. I definitely struggled with my options to work properly without straining. If you're just going to Brighton for hangs, this place will do you well. If you need to work or need considerations like early check-in, you're better off staying at a more standard hotel.

Wonderful hotel! Decor is shabby chic, tasteful with lovely quirky touches. Small double room was very comfortable and cosy. Perfect for our needs. It was a bit hot on the first night so we left the windows open during the day so the next night was ideal. Staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Cocktails were excellent and the breakfasts were delicious!

Pros - very nice Vibe, amazing breakfast, great location. Cons - Quite dusty under those beds, noticed as I dropped my lip balm on the floor, there are a pair of Sandals underneath there too (? which lets me know this spot is overlooked). Toilet not the cleanest, if you stand back you can really see the mess under rim, needs a good clean in those places. Water in shower could also be hotter.

I imagine the hotel is quite nice however they cancelled my booking over a month after I made it leaving me with no hotel booking for my stay. They claimed I was part of a group booking, I’m pretty angry with having 3 weeks left to find alternative accommodation. Haven’t got my 50% deposit back yet either. Seems like a post COVID change in the running of the hotel as I’d heard good things before. Also their policy online does allow group bookings?! Maybe one for trading standards.
