We were thoroughly let down by Apex. On the plus side their marketing is quite slick and their price was good. On the down side they sent a highly inexperienced packer the day before our move who was no good at packing (just tipped everything into boxes with no care), was poor at labelling, did not follow simple instructions about what was for storage and what was for our new house, was awful at wrapping breakable items (we had to re-wrap several), was very slow and both packers left before finishing without any explanation. This meant move day was very stressful, we did a lot of the work ourselves, and were very late in leaving our old house.
Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of it. The removal team refused to follow the instruction booklet for reassembling our wardrobe so did it wrong. We eventually managed to get them to come back and they did it wrong again. Worse than this, six items of large furniture have been significantly damaged by lack of due care in removal/storage. And they have lost one item altogether. It turns out much of the marketing spiel just isn’t true (eg vehicles covered in graffiti, totally untrained packer), and while the price was reasonable, how we wish we’d paid more and used a competent company. We actually don’t blame the removal team, who were mostly friendly and helpful. Their employment conditions and hours seem pretty terrible and we ended up feeling sorry for them for working for this company. We strongly advise you to avoid Apex. If for whatever reason you do decide to use them, take note that you have to inform them of any damage within seven days. How we wish we had spotted this. The small goodwill payment they offered us for all the damage and problems was better than nothing, but we still wish we’d gone elsewhere.
