Apex Grassmarket Hotel edinburgh

THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED AT & I've stayed at many. The service was above and beyond and everyone was so polite. Mad props to the concierge that went out of his way to get me lotion after I returned back from a windy day in Scotland. He couldn't find any. Called to let me know he couldn't find any. And they came knocking a half hour later after running down to the other Apex in Edinburgh. I don't recall his name but he was bald and it was the night of 2/23/2020. You know who you are and hopefully you get mad representation for your awesome service!! Thanks Apex. We were originally supposed to stay at the Hilton in town but they refused to honor their promotion. I'm so glad they did- I don't think we would have gotten this there... Also location was very central.

Fantastic location, within easy walking distance from Waverley Station. Our room looks over the Castle which is awesome. The Grassmarket is beautiful, full of history. Next stop the pool after a quick pitstop.

We were met by Jordan at reception. When she found out it was my birthday and we were there to celebrate, she could not do enough for us. Jordan made our stay special. She is such an asset to the hotel. A lovely place to stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great rooms, were very tidy and clean, loved the duck on the bed on arrival it was adorable and I've taken it home to keep in a keepsake box. Bed was VERY comfy and the toiletries in the room and bathroom were luxurious and I especially enjoyed the sleep spray next to the bed.

Perfectly located hotel in the Edinburgh City Centre. Staff were helpful and polite, and took all COVID precautions. The room was clean and comfortable, and suited me as a solo traveller for a 3-day trip. I've recommended this hotel since and would definitely stay again!

Many of the complaints people have made are somewhat justified, but probably overstating the issues. Location is great. They have central air conditioning in the rooms which is a huge bonus. Showers are good and spacious, but they definitely should replace the old caulking on a more regular basis. It looks bad. The bed was comfortable and we had one of the double suites which I think is a bigger room, so no issues there. European rooms are always smaller so I am not sure what people expect. The staff varied between friendly and accommodating, but fine either way.

We had a leaking toilet that ran for days and they never fixed it. We had unexpected mail arrive and they didn't let us know and said it was not their problem nor their job to let us know packages had arrived. Very rude manager. I would not stay there nor recommend anyone staying there. I will also inform Rick Steves know as he had recommended it in his travel book.

Only 1/2 the hotel has elevator service, rooms are very small in ok shape. Restaurant adjoining has bad service and although my wife loved the stew I ordered a hamburger and was terrible, ate part of my meal and got sick. 1st day in Scotland not a great one.

Safe environment with friendly helpful staff. Good facilities and best location
