So my wife and I decided we wanted french doors off the kitchen. We called three different companies: Anglian, Another National Glazing Company and a Local Company close to our Town. To say Anglian had a strange sales strategy would be an understatement! The other two companies were able to give me a quote within 10 minutes of meeting the rep. Anglian sent someone round who was in my house for an hour. He seemed keen to draw out the time he was there unnecessarily. Not once did he even ask if he was taking up too much of our time. When he finally got round to giving me the quote (this is the part I don't get) he called someone who I think was his boss and then passed the phone to me. What happened then was I was given what can only be described as a 'stern talking to' by this other guy on the phone. It wasn't so much what he was saying but how he was saying it. It seemed a tad aggressive for no good reason. And the quote itself? Here is how they compare: Local Company - £2,200 Rival National Company - £5,000 (The guy did offer to do it for £3,000 if I signed up there and then) Anglian - £6,500 Make of this what you will.

V poor customer service experience. I sought a quote for replacing my windows. I booked an appointment online. I got an email to say they will be in touch to get details about my proposed works. I missed a call from an unknown number which must have been Anglian days after my initial booking but I heard no more. I presumed my appointment was going ahead. They didn't show. I contacted a customer service adviser but she said they would not risk wasting the drivers time coming to my house in case I wasn't there although I had booked an appointment. She then continued to blame me for the issue without looking at the deficiencies of their own service. It seemed like the customers time was not important.

Overall, the windows are great. They look good and they do their job, keeping heat in and the cold outside! However, where Anglian really fall down is the quality of their ironmongery components. Over the last 5 years, we've had to arrange callouts to fix faulty handles no less than 4 times. In fact, I ended up insisting that every handle on every window in the house be replaced. Which, to be fair, they did. So, imagine my surprise when the bathroom window handle again broke a few weeks ago! Anglian sent an engineer round promptly, only after I complained that a 3 week wait was too long. The delightful chap that they sent round gave me his opinions on : • why he hates coming through to Edinburgh (my home city) • his views on the people in Edinburgh • his views on politics and Scottish independence I'm really not making this up. So, overall, the windows are great. The ironmongery is poor in my experience and some of the staff require customer service training refreshers.
