Some GPs are good, and others like to talk much rather than having the patience to listen. Some GPs may also ask you personal questions regarding your profession, which I found odd. Staff at reception almost always rude. I tried to get a telephonic appointment with the GP but was never given one. I was always asked to come in person to talk to the GP even when I thought it was a minor issue like discussing blood results. They also changed my initials from Dr to Mr, perhaps due to ignorance!

Receptionist staff are despicable! They are always rude when trying to book an appointment, and are never helpful. When I went into the practice the other day and handed a member of reception staff a private and confidential letter addressed to the GP, it was opened in front of me, which I felt to be an extreme breach of my privacy and confidentiality. Not to mention constantly being questioned about why I want to make an appointment and being hounded when I say I would rather not disclose this information to the reception staff, as it is a private matter regarding only my GP.

My wife registered there, big mistake! Impossible to get through on phone, takes weeks to get an appointment (assuming u can actually get through on the phone to make an appointment)! Very unhelpful, she needed her NHS and they refused to give it over the phone and said she has to go in person (not easy when you work full-time in the city). She called her old surgery who gave it to her over the phone straight away. On the same day I called my surgery (not Acorn ) for my NHS number and they gave it to me over the phone straight away too. In terms of the doctors she was very reluctant to make appointments with them as she found their "bedside manner" to be inadequate. Avoid if you can. Luckily we've moved out of the area and the new Surgery offered an appointment on the same day!

The WORST people, negligence isn’t the word it’s incompetent, even if they wanted to help they couldn’t, the receptionists are hit and miss the younger ones are lovely, the doctors are irrelevant may as well diagnose ourselves, prescribers not doctors as far as I’m concerned, I’ve had an illness since 14 I’m 21 and my doctors have practically no record of it LOL

I moved to the area recently and am thrilled to be here. But the one thing I hate about moving is changing to this GP. I have had not a single positive experience with them. The receptionists are so rude and unhelpful that I wonder why they have jobs in which they need to interact with humans, especially ones who are sick/scared/etc. No empathy or a desire to help at all, and this has been consistently the case in every single interaction I've had with them.

I have been at this surgery for about 14 years and I have no idea why I have stuck it out this long. I have had two misdiagnosis, one of which was very serious and I ended up in hospital. The midwife based there constantly had me in tears through two of my pregnancies. I never see the same doctor twice it is a locum I’ve never seen before every time. There is a serious lack of confidentiality. Most recently after getting through the horrendous and lengthy process of trying to get an appointment for my son they insisted I had missed the telephone consultation despite my phone not ringing. Genuinely don’t know how CQC hasn’t shut the place down. I am now looking at new surgeries to move my family too. I love and appreciate the NHS and I am a patient person I understand the NHS is understaffed and underpaid but even I have my limits and this place is dangerous

Dr Ajay Birley is one of the rudest people I have met! It seems rudeness and uncomfortable environment for patients and staff is all the Acorn practice seems to offer from reading the other reviews.

By far the worst surgery, they are completely let down by some of their admin staff.it’s a real shame as the GP’s have always been helpful. The nurse is very rude and hostile too. I’m so shocked that receptionists can get away with talking to patients the way they do. They lack empathy and compassion, which you can understand with receptionist staff who do not have any medical experience. I feel they need customer service training as they lack any basic skills on how to communicate and talk with people. I would really recommend another GP surgery if any options available. As I’ve said the receptionist staff really need more experience before talking to patients. It’s a shame people get on a power trip because they work as a receptionist of a GP. They do not even deserve one star.
