Really helpful staff and good layout. Would have got 5 stars if they featured unknown or local artists (this is what made record shops successful in the past). It won't take away from the major acts.

This is a big store in the Arndale Centre, located on the second store near the Market Street entrance. There's a lot going on in this store. Upstairs is mainly music: CDs, Vinyls, Singles, etc. Downstairs is more interesting in my opinion, full of DVDs and Blu-rays, posters and frames, t-shirts and books, record players, and such. The store maximises its space. Fortunately though room to walk around and not concern yourself with bumping into others hasn't been sacrificed.

Went in today and they had a live band on. Was loud for a shopping experience. But, what do you expect, it's a live band. It was definitely a surreal experience standing among the walls of albums listening to a band, live. I did some shopping afterwards and there is a good selection of vinyl albums. But, you're not going to find anything special. Good for buying new releases and popular albums though. Can't complain, I think most people know what they're getting themselves into when they walk in the front door of a HMV.

Lovely place to go just to pass the time or if your in need of anything music or film related. Granted that hmv haven't been as popular as they were in the 80s and 90s but still coming here will still be worthwhile. Either your looking at the vast amounts of records and vinyls they have in stock or looking at the front of the store with the figurines or browsing the movie and TV show isles full of action anime and other genres to keep you entertained over all a solid experience and look forward to going again
