It was time to travel to Melbourne again for business. Coming from the states, I wanted to make the most of my long journey so I took an extra week off. What would I do? Australia is such a large country, I knew I wanted to get further out of Melbourne this time. At first I considered reef diving, or perhaps just relaxing on a beautiful Gold Coast beach drinking mai taIs. But after the last two years of helping to build and sell a startup, I knew I needed something more. I needed a real recharge. I began searching for retreats, and chances upon Harmony Hill. I had heard a lot of good things about the island from my coworkers. After some deliberation I gave Ami a call to see if she had availability for my week off. She did, and I committed to going; not fully knowing what to expect. The night before my arrival I was emailed by Shan, who kindly gave me his number so that I might contact him. A short flight on JetStar landed me in the small terminal of Tasmania, I worked my way outside to the pickup island and texted Shan. The drive to the retreat was fun, Shan makes for good conversation and company. We wound our way up a smooth dirt road and finally approached the retreat. The surrounding land and views are very beautiful and it was obvious that great care was taken in the construction. Meeting Ami in person, I was instantly put at ease. She is wise, bright, and inspirational. Her laughter is infectious. We discussed a variety of interests and she showed me to my cottage. The cottage is a lovely detached two story hexagonal building with lots of privacy and a large sun room with soaking tub. Amply supplied with tea, dish ware, organic sundries and reading materials.

Soon after I was greeted by Layla who took me to the dry sauna before my first of many treatments. Although I work in technology now I have a background in massage and shiatsu. I have also spent time studying Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. I was extremely pleased with all the treatments and found their effects to be relaxing, invigorating, and at times profound. After returning from my first treatment Ami brought me dinner. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive about being hungry as I am an avid omnivore and consume meat regularly. My concern quickly abated as a variety of delicious and amply portioned vegetarian food was prepared throughout my stay. In the mornings I met Ami in the center building for yoga and meditation. The yoga was light and relaxing. And the meditation was perfect for framing the day. Solo walks in the bush were incredibly rewarding as I spotted countless wallabies and beautiful birds frolicking in their natural habitat. The vegetation was unique and unlike anything I’ve seen. I am very grateful to have found Harmony Hill and wish to return on my next trip to Australia. It’s an incredible place and an incredible value.

I dont know how this place has any good ratings. This was my first ever wellness retreat and it was absolutly horrendous. They changed my appointment a hour a head of what I originally booked, i was curtious about this because I could. When I arrived there was absolutely no one there, no staff, no ppl, no one, wonder why. I rang the lady in charge and she was so arrogant and insisted very arrogantly that my appointment was at the original time I had made even though I recived email confirmation and a txt with the change they had made. As it happened I actually arrived a hour early due to my gps telling me it would take 2 hours but it only took 1 so I was actually on time for the original appointment anyway which I informed her of. Finally the lady in charge said to wait at reception while she calls the other lady on duty. 45 minutes later the lady arrives.. The lady on duty heavily insisted i pay right then and there for the session even tho i intended to do this and this was no problem for me. I couldn't help feel un easy about the way she was conducting herself and her arogance shon through quick. From then on it only got worse. The massage was totally inadiquite and i felt so uncomftable through the whole thing and i told the lady and she said it was my fault for how I had my head in the head rest. I moved my head in every position you could think of and there was no getting comfy in that head rest. The hot rocks burnt my back serverly and I had to tell the lady to stop. Later on I took photos of my back which was totally burnt from where the rocks were and my skin peeled and blistered, i dont have sensitive skin so its nothing like that. I sent photos through to Harmony Hill spa retreat and its now been more then 24 hours later with no email back what so ever. When I had my facial the lady was litrally stomping around, going through the door which is right next to the massage table and was very loud. This made it impossible to even try to relax. I am Australian and It was hard to talk with the lady and she didn't understand what I was saying 80% of the time and she didn't seem to care. I was curtious through this. The bin in the mens was full and tied up so there was no where to put the paper towl. The sinks were mucky from the toilets to the sauna. The place was not well kept or well managed. The sauna took half my session to heat up and even then it was bare minimum of what a sauna would be expected and it was on the Max setting. Before I even got in the sauna i infomed the lady that it was not hot enough but she tried to ensure me that it was ok because she had the door open and it would heat up. No extended time or anything. The shower presure was very poor. The lady popped her head in when i was getting dressed to hurry me up and I totally felt like she was just trying to get me in and out to collect a pay check and get the sesson done. No proper care at all. I am not rich and this was not cheap, I didn't go there just for fun i went there because I am due to go to the navy in 6 days and I really needed a wellness retreat day to help my body heal and prepare for some quite serious trainning ahead. Instead I recived quite server back burns which I have photos of and arrogants from 2 separate ladys, the one in charge and one on duty. There has been no email back from them and its been more then 24 hours. I will be taking matters firstly to a ombudsman. I have put photos of my back on the fb review as I dont know how to do it here. This is clearly the formular 1 motel of the wellness refreats and it totally dampened the beautiful nature around. p.s dont trust their photos on there website the place set out is small, squishy and quite cramped. -Ricky

This was me and my wife's first spa experience and was incredibly relaxing. The owners were accomodating, friendly and delivered a holistically sublime experience over four hours. It was also reasonably priced and only 30 minutes from Hobart city.

I have recently stayed at Harmony Hill for the 5 day retreat. It was a paradise!! The accommodation, the food, and the peaceful setting. The yoga and meditation sessions exceptional. The massages and treatments again, outstanding. If you are looking to unwind, recharge your batteries, or just get away from it all, this is the place to be. I highly recommend it. I also recommend the 5 day retreat to fully appreciate your time here. I feel amazing!! Thank you Ami and Noble.
