Well after a very long time I have finally had a couple of grenades (as one of my doctors described it) go off in my knees and have two new Titanium ones put in their place. I am at the end of week one and although the pain is rather ectrsiating at times I am pleased I did them together. I had surgery last Monday, 28/2/22, and after a week in Albury Base Hospital I head home today. I want to put a very big thank you out there for the nursing staff in Surgical Ward 1 you are such a wonderful group of caring and understanding people who at time do not get treated very well. Also to the Physio staff thank you for pushing me now the rest is up to me. Thank you to all staff and keep up the good work and feel free to pass on my thanks to all the staff on Surgery 1 Ward and the Physio. Regards Colleen Coe

Chose a profession which is touted as a caring profession, only to realise that when it came to employment at AWH it is all driven by a very business orientated approach. As a student you are made to feel that you are valued and that you would be an asset to the organisation, your skills and knowledge are emphasised, which is a nice feeling for one's ego but unfortunately does not reflect reality. So far I have attended a number of interviews only to be eluded by that job offer. I have felt that others chose not to give me a job but that the reasons were cleverly camouflaged as the competitive job market, insufficient experience or knowledge or some personal reasons I don't want to go into. I don't believe I need to sell myself in desperation to be recognised and to land myself a job, I have sufficient faith in my abilities and achievements and I would like to come across someone who will show the same faith in me rather than feeling that I am overwhelmed by the feeling of being unrealistically rated against others. Well done to all those who have found employment, but to others I would suggest to approach everything with a grain of salt. I have personally found that AWH seems to be more particular about recruitment than other rival organisations, but that this doesn't equate to higher standards in my opinion, rather to a misguided sense of being better and smarter than others. At the end of the day, there are plenty of reputable health organisations out there with very capable staff who in spite of their stellar achievements are still able to exercise a healthy dose of humility. There is plenty of choice for job seekers and plenty of goodwill to accept those who have been overlooked by others.

My 5 year old daughter had lots of tests done yesterday and spent the day on the Paediatrics ward. The nurse Raleigh (sorry if I misspelled it) on morning shift was so lovely to myself and my daughter and made her visit a lot less scary for her. I just wanted to acknowledge her hard work, especially in these uncertain times with covid.

Friendly staff but the 7.5 hour wait to finally see someone was way too long, no one cared to check on me considering I was still bleeding and then when I did go in I was put in a cubicle and made to hold my own bloody dressing and then when he put another dressing on I was made to hold the rubbish from that, while waiting for a CT I was made to wait back in the waiting room for over a hour. Then 2 hour wait for the CT results. The dissolvable stitches I was meant to have need to be taken out as they haven’t and won’t dissolve. The worst part of it was the doctors constantly asking if I was abused when I had clearly told them no it wasn’t my partner, I told them how we had driven from Sydney to Albury with barely anything to eat and then also a massive full on day and they still blamed my partner and kept trying to get me to lie and say he hit me, when in actual fact it wasn’t him at all, it was me. Wish we had of gone elsewhere as it was poor service! Not happy at all especially the blame on my partner and then needing to get dissolvable stitches out over a week later.
