Reef Lodge Backpackers hostel and lockers Townsville – Townsville

A truly horrible experience. The owners were extremely rude and unwelcoming. I was shocked at how inconsiderate the owners were of other people and could not understand why they were so nasty as soon as I walked into the office. I will not be coming back and will not be recommending this accommodation to anyone. While we were there we witnessed the way they treated other people within the hostel and it was extremely hard to watch. I hope the owners take the time to reflect on this review as well as the many other negative reviews on here. Very disappointed.

Good hostel , it's clean and calm Owner are kind and reliable Maybe in the future it's gonna be finish but , guys, as a backpacker, that hostel was the only one to not ask any vaccination . The others let me outside ! So thanks to them , we should to support that kind of local family instead of the other when times gets hard they close you the door ! Take care, Jerom

Very clean and affordable. Nice and quiet even though it is right next to a busy social area. They were having issues with aircon and electrical when I stayed but were doing their best to fix things. If you are looking for a safe quiet affordable accommodation option in Townsville in a great location stay here. As a first time traveler I found this a great experience. Thanks Dean.

WOUAI BOF, the receptionist can be rude and his wife is maniac. The bedrooms is tolerable, the common area is confortable but you are just a customer. The receptionist's vibes are illogical.

Terrible Service Backpacker Ever! I booked 3 nights. But I only stayed 2 nights and left early. Because a lady at the reception probably an owner was too rude. Erase all idea to stay longer. I CANNOT FORGET THAT LADY'S EYE, ATTITUDE AND AGGRESSIVE VOICE TONE. She could be able to expain all things in a moderate and gentle attitude but showed me all aggressive and arrogant attitude. My friend visited me to give me some items. However, she was letting him leave immediately. I was also warned. But in contrast, she was bit more moderate to European visitor who was next to me. That's owner can make replying or no. Anyway I saw it. I don't really want to say this is as Racism. but she treated me more aggressive because I am Asian? In contrast, he is a white man? And the next day I popped over reception for taking $20 key deposit back in advance before early check out. But she said I will have to lose 20 dollars in the reason of friend visiting. SHE NEVER SAID 'VISITING cause LOSING DEPOSIT' IN ANYWHERE even in backside of small paper. I've already got warned! That's already got penalized I was sure. In addition, she asked me telling credit card detail for taking another deposit for early check out. I was ruined all feeling. I decided to move a hotel straight away. Staying in this backpacker doesn't mean 'I don't have money'. mean 'I want get highest satisfaction with economic price'. Imaine will they treats me, looking down on me if I paid much of money as if staying in the hotel? Nobody! Shared bathroom is ok but Private room has fungus smell as soon as I got in. Have to fix those bad smells of humidity. Bathroom doesn't have small table or shelves something to put your things on it. Backpacker property is full of plants, looks good but full of mosquitoes at the same time. Bite a lot of times while on cooking at the kitchen. Still no fly screen on the door or window stuffs.
