"free cancellations" with a "cancel booking" button on their website under your account. You press this magical button... asks why you're cancelling... then provided with one button: "DON'T CANCEL". Very convenient cancel procedure which can't cancel anything. If you want to continue to cancel you have to then call up and be put on hold for an hour. I want to curse this company. But it did give me ample time to write this review warning others. Otherwise completely unaware of the standard of service. (I'm still on hold... plenty more time to highlight this setup to trading standards)

Complete cowboys. Made booking through them. Went to pick up car and the rental company 1) refused to honour the rental; and 2) said the insurance rentalcars had made was not valid on their car. They refused to provide a refund. Wasted five hours of my life. Avoid at all costs.

Stay away. They deserve a 0. Charged our credit card and left us stranded at the Newark airport in NJ Their website let us book for a pick up at 11:30 pm, but the car rental place closes at 10pm. We were left stranded at the airport. They refuse to refund our money even though we could not rented. Their fault for letting us book a pick up at 11:30 when the car rental place closes at 10pm. We are fighting to get our money back. We will sue if necessary.

I will never use rentalcars again - booking went fine but Budget charged me for things that were wrong ie fuel charge tough full, and other additional charges. I complained to RentalCars and 5 times I had to re-opend the case as they just close it without any investigation or support to their customers DREADFUL AFTER CARE !!!!!

We lost $766! I've used this company many times and it was fine till I had an issue. My airline changed our flight so it meant that we were not getting to the pick up location till a day later. So I call them to let them know. Basically the staff on the phone did not know how to deal with the situation, gave us wrong instructions, etc, we ended up losing our car as a "no show". All they told us to do then was to put in a claim for a refund after the 'planned return day'. How about us not having a car during our family holiday? No care in the world!!! I am so frustrated and disappointed in this company. I will not be using this company again, as it's based in England. I will use the company in Australia which doesn't charge money upfront and not to mention the calls kept cutting out every time they put me on hold and won't courteously call me back.

Booked a car which got cancelled, instead of informing me they couldn’t rebook another at the time I wanted, staff fraudulently charged my card. I requested a refund and waited over a month before calling my bank and getting my money back. Had a lot more issues but at the end of the day, don’t use these clowns, go direct to or search online for other comparison sites. They are not the cheapest anymore, their customer service is awful and they have shady practices in place.

a few times i gave rental cars a chance. each time something else, but so often is such a mess. costomer service is not actually helping but making you resolve your own problems. its' often better and cheaper to just go and rent a car on the spot.

Have been a customer with rentalcars.com for many years now but will never use their service again.I was overcharged by Budget on my recent carhire in France & got in touch with Rentalcars.com. Their service says all claims to be dealt with within 28 days .(not true) When you do get an agent ,you have less than 10 min to talk otherwise your call will be disconnected & you start from the beginning which is extremely frustrating. When asked for a line manager, complaints dept , or senior person I was told they had none .For such a big company one would imagine all the above should be available. Overall I have not sought legal advice My ADVICE , STAY AWAY & Use an alternative

Rent a car in Gran Canary at Sixt via Rental car. Sixt let us pay 500 euros extra. Errors were made by rental cars, complain to them… Our choice: no car, car without insurance or pay. When returning at home, we immediately made a complaint. Rental cars agreed that it was a mistake and the payed us around 90 euros back. The rest we need to ask ourselves to Sixt, their dealer! Result: we will never see our money back! It are Liars and cheaters! Don’t rent with them, it will cost you more than going immediately to the dealer!
