I booked Zen Day Spa's Hens Group Package for 7 guests in Potts Point which is advertised as a luxury spa experience including champagne and cupcakes. Unfortunately our experience did not feel luxury at all. On Zen's website, there are pictures of Hens groups celebrating with cupcakes, champagne, balloons and decorations inside the spa. I thought this would be really nice for the bride-to-be and something different from a regular massage, so I booked. After I already made the deposit, I was told that we weren't allowed any decorations in the spa to allow other guests to relax and unwind... this was unfortunate, but I thought "Oh well, at least there will be champagne and cupcakes" However when we arrived, there was nothing set up at all. We walked in then awkwardly walked ourselves over to the seated area and were handed clipboards with our pre-treatment forms. It felt weird for a "luxury spa" to not greet/welcome us, tell us about the treatments or even offer some water or something? I then walked over to the front desk to ask about the food and drinks and was told that after our treatment was over that it would be set-up on a table outside of the spa. This means that instead of being inside the spa (like their website photos suggest) we had to sit in the walkway area outside (it was freezing cold that morning) and eating cupcakes just a few steps away from the restroom entrance. I felt like this was misleading. I also assumed that everyone would receive treatments at the same time. However, they had to split us up into 2 groups in 2 different sessions which meant that our spa visit ran from 12:30pm - 3pm. I wish I was told that this before I made the deposit. It also makes me wonder how they would even accommodate their max of 18 guests?? This meant that when Group 1 finished, they're expected to just sit there in and wait around awkwardly for Group 2 to finish before we could enjoy food and drinks together. So I kindly asked if cupcakes and champagne could be given to Group 1 while Group 2 were in treatment, then we could join them after. They agreed but then only served Group 1 champagne, while Group 2 weren't offered any drinks when they finished and we decided to just leave because we weren't being tended to. The Hens Package also includes a 30min massage and a 30min facial. All of the guests received a full body massage, but for some reason I was only given a back massage. That was disappointing. Prior to the facial, there was also no explanation of what products would be used. The facial just immediately started right after the massage and a very rough exfoliant scrub was used (even though I indicated that I had sensitive skin). It would've been much better if we were informed about what products they were using first. The massage table was also lined with towels that felt old, rough, brittle and NOT luxurious at all. My view from my face hole was also a dirty powerboard outlet that I could not stop staring at the entire massage. Prior to the day, I was also asked to provide names of the guests for Group 1 and Group 2. Which I did, assuming they would use this to organise the day for us. I placed the bride-to-be in Group 1 so that she was prioritised. On the day, they didn't follow the Group lists provided at all, it was just whoever arrived and filled out the clipboard first was quickly taken away with a masseuse - so what was the point of providing the names? The bride-to-be didn't end up being prioritised. Staff never once even asked who the bride-to-be was. Close to the day, I was suddenly told that 1 person from each group would need to be paired with a male masseuse. I wish we were told this prior to making the deposit because we kind of didn't have a choice at this stage. Luckily, a few of my friends were ok with a male masseuse so I provided their names to the spa (like I was asked)... however, on the day the staff didn't pair these people with the male masseuse. It was clear that the person I liaised with didn't provide any details to the staff, everything was unorganised.
