I’m not normally one to give negative reviews but I felt I had to after my experience at Vanessa’s. I agree with other reviews around the hygiene and cleanliness of the salon. I didn’t see any cleaning of the nail stations after they were used whilst I was there and noted everything just looked dirty. The nail polish options all appear really old and crusty and seem to be separating inside the bottles. They seem to offer different prices for the same service to different people and only take cash which makes me suspicious. During my manicure, the manicurist was extremely rough on my cuticles to the point that it hurt. After I was directed to wash my hands, my cuticles started to bleed on most of my fingers. When I raised this with the manicurist, she suggested it was because I washed my hands too rough. My fingers were sore, red and swollen for days afterwards. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend anyone get their nails done here!

I was there the other day with my mum. She was having a manicure and shellac done. I decided to have a manicure while waiting for her. First of all, they cut my thumb while clipping my cuticles (something that shouldn't be done anyway under current health guidelines). It bled pretty bad. The woman doing this was quite rough and cause pain. I flinched half a dozen times and commented on the pain. There was no apology, no nothing. Just blood. The utensils also came out of an unsealed bag. Next a new staff member came over, while the staff member began working on my mum. She "buffed" my nails, but instead of buffing them smooth, she left my nails with bumps and ridges. They were rough, dry and sensitive. After that she gave me a 30 second hand massage then dipped the top coat brush into the bottle and covered 4 finger nails with one swipe across them. Same with the other hand...they then rubbed the top coat into my nails, and onto the skin of my fingers. The first staff member came back and buffed my fingers again, taking most of the top coat off, and that was the end. It wasn't worth saying anything to then because I've seen how they react to criticism. It was terrible and very unhygienic
