A fair while since I've been in however I once was interested in an amp here and the guy (may not work there now but was Caucasian with dreads) came across a bit rude and patronising. Wasn't very knowledgeable when I was enquiring about the tubes within the amp. I then enquired about selling a product as they regularly buy as well as sell, I was told my amp was pretty much unsellable as it was a 100w Marshall head! There will always be a market for the world most famous rock & roll amps!!!

As a left handed guitarist I struggle with the limited range of guitars available generally but from here I've got lucky, twice! It's not a massive store but they do well with the space they have. The staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and not pushy. The one thing I'd say is don't get discouraged if you go in once and they haven't got exactly what you're after, it looks like their turnover of stock is quite high. So it's worth going back and trying again. They even had a couple of left handed banjos the last time I went and good ones of those are a very rare find away from the big bad internet.

I've been looking to buy a train whistle for months. Several shops (some very big) looked at me blankly, but Johnny Roadhouse had one, and at a very reasonable price. Very pleased with the service.

Friendly, helpful, affordable, and most impressive selection of used gear. I purchased a couple sets of guitar strings here, but if I lived in this town, I'd be trolling their selection regularly for deals on used guitars. The place is small, but efficiently organized to take advantage of the space, and they are genuinely welcomeing to anyone playing and trying gear before buying. Proper hometown music store.
